Handbags for Hope
Love fashion and good causes? It’s all in the bag at this event. Read on for all the details.

If fashion and philanthropy is your bag, plan on attending the upcoming bi-annual Handbags for Hope event, Thursday, February 7, at the Newport Syndicate.
According to Shannon Lienemann, Communications Specialist for The Literacy Network who hosts the event, there are a lot of new and exciting purse brands on board for 2019.
“We have new purse brands including Burberry, Gucci, Furla, Vittorio, and more,” she says.
There are also new auction items, including tickets to “Hamilton” in Cincinnati and a week-long stay in a Gatlinburg chalet.
The event is hosted to benefit the Literacy Network, and its suite of programs, Lienemann says. “All programs are free of charge to all that participate,” she adds. “We receive no government funding, we are solely funded through grants, private donations, and fundraisers such as Handbags for Hope.”
Tickets for the event are $60 and include a sit-down dinner and two drink tickets. The night will get started with a cocktail hour, allowing guests to peruse through purses, bid on silent auction items, and purchase raffle tickets.
The sit-down dinner will begin at 6:15 pm, with the program following shortly after.
“The program includes the Hope Award, which the B-105 morning show presents, the honoring of the Honorary Chairs and our Corporate Partner, ‘Fund the Mission,’ the live auction, and lastly, the announcement of raffle winners.”
Lienemann says the event will wrap up shortly after 9 pm.
