After a fire destroyed their previous location, a Loveland-based boutique is back and better than ever. Keep reading to see how the owners triumphantly turned tragedy into opportunity.
Janel Thompson, Debby Walker, and Ann Marie Toney are the founders behind Alley Boutique, a Loveland-based clothing store that specializes in all things women’s fashion.
It hasn’t always been sunshine and rainbows for the trio behind the boutique, however. In May 2017, a fire ravaged the store in the Bishop Building, then known as Cincy Fashion Wheels, and everything about the business was put on hold for more than a year.
“It was disheartening to have to put the store on hold for so long,” says Thompson. “However, through tragedy came a new window of opportunity to move into our current location.”
That new location meant an exciting redesign, readjustment, and more possibilities than the team could have imagined – many thanks in part to the faith they upheld throughout the storm they never thought possible.
“We are faith-based, and I truly believe everything happens for a reason,” says Thompson. “What you give in life is what you get back. Sometimes it takes a long time and sometimes you get things you don’t deserve. I have to say we were given back way more than we’ve ever given.”
The rebirth of the store inspired a change in name, too – Alley Boutique. The new store is located in an alleyway adjacent to Plaid Records and Montgomery Cyclery, in space owned by the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department.
“We came to the decision to rename our store to better fit our new location,” says Thompson. “We are in love with our new location and are looking forward to the future.”
That future really came to light on June 8, 2018, when they officially reopened and were able to celebrate with former customers of Cincy Fashion Wheels.
At Alley Boutique, you’ll find unique women’s clothing, accessories, signature jewelry, and affordable prices. “We want it to be affordable,” says Thompson.
In addition to keeping prices affordable at the store, they also work hard to keep a revolving inventory. “We don’t order the same things,” she adds. “You won’t see yourself walking around in Loveland.”
Alley Boutique is located at 201 West Loveland Avenue, in Downtown Historic Loveland, near the Loveland Bike Trail. To learn more about Alley Boutique, visit https://alleyboutique.com/. You can also follow along on Facebook and Instagram.
