Bourbon lovers, head to Covington to check out this new spirits and bottle shop featuring rare and vintage finds and a one-of-a-kind tasting bar.
Calling all bourbon lovers! Revival Vintage Spirits & Bottle Shop is a retail and bottle shop located in downtown Covington, Kentucky specializing in rare and vintage bottles.
“Revival Vintage Spirits & Bottle Shop is a destination for the bourbon curious and longtime bourbon collectors,” says Co-Owner Shannon Smith. “We are home to a collection of rare and vintage bottles and a one-of-a-kind bourbon tasting bar.”
The staff at Revival is made up of approachable bourbon experts and in the store you’ll find hundreds of bottles representing over a century of rectifying and distilling in Kentucky.
The inspiration behind Revival is the desire to build community. “Revival is filling a niche in the spirits industry where the stories behind each unique bottle can be shared and rare and/or vintage dusties can be bought, sold, and exchanged to be experienced and enjoyed,” adds Smith.
Alongside Smith at Revival is also Brad Bonds and Katie Meyer, together they are able to bring expertise, passion, and high-quality customer service to everyone who walks through the door.
“Brad is one of the largest vintage ‘dusty’ spirits collectors in the country,” says Smith.
A vintage bourbon curator, he has been hunting antique bottles for more than 10 years. Brad left his 9 to 5 in 2018 after Kentucky enacted a vintage spirits law, and turned his passion into a business opportunity by helping the legendary Cork N’ Bottle start a vintage spirits division, establishing himself as a leading authority in the rare bourbon community.”
At Revival you’ll find Brad sharing his expertise as an appraiser and libraring, guiding collectors and tasters alike through the differences of bourbon then and now.
Katie is the history guru and can tell you all about Kentucky’s historic Main Streets and the spirits that have made the Bluegrass famous. “In addition to being co-owner of Revival, Katie is the Smart City Policy Advisor at Cincinnati Bell,” says Smith. “Prior to that, she served as the Executive Director of Renaissance Covington where she spent nine years working with the City, community and small businesses to support the revitalization of the downtown.”
Katie has also co-authored “Walking Cincinnati: 35 Walking Tours Exploring Historic Neighborhoods, Stunning Riverfront Quarters, and Hidden Treasures in the Queen City.”
Smith says that her love for bourbon started on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour, and only grew from there. “As the sole owner of Smith Law and a member of the Distillate Committee for the Cincinnati/NKY Chapter of Bourbon Women, I bring a wealth of entrepreneurial experience and community connections to Revival.”
In the store, you’ll find not only a selection of Covington and Kentucky handmade products and merchandise, but you’ll also find a bottle collection that includes rare bourbons, scotch, brandy, tequila, rum, and gins for purchase as well as tasting.
The inventory at Revival is constantly changing, so no visit is ever the same. “Not only are we selling, and soon assisting with exchanges, we’re also on the hunt for new bottles to add to our collection,” says Smith. “So if you have old bottles in your basement, give us a call – we’d love to check them out!”
Revival is looking forward to the holiday season as they launch a subscription membership program, providing bottle samples each month to promote the discovery of spirits. Smith says to keep an eye out on the details regarding this new membership soon!
Revival is located at 5 E. 8th Street in Covington.
