A new Newport-based practice that wants to help people relieve stress and heal through two unique kinds of tension-melting services.
It’s a busy world out there, but Tina Kreidler opened a wellness practice in Northern Kentucky to help you find the stillness within. In fact, Stillness Within Healing is the name of her new business.
The name, Stillness Within Healing, comes from the feeling of zen, she says. “When you are able to quiet the chaos of the world and get quiet and still, you can balance the nervous system and heal. I am not a healer, I like to hold space for people so that they can awaken their inner healer,” she adds. “Some of the most common imbalances that people seek out holistic healing for are: anxiety, stress, acute illness, auto immune disorders, painful joints, sleeplessness, depression, emotional healing and mental fog. It’s complimentary to Western Medicine.”
Kreidler loves to help people and has brought that passion to her practice. “I hope to offer a place where people can truly relax and I can walk with them on their journey of wellness,” she says. “We live in such a fast-paced world and people are really starting to understand that self-care needs to be a priority, finding that balance for the body, mind, spirit and emotions.”
Reiki and Reflexology are the two main services currently offered at Stillness Within Healing.
“Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by ‘laying on hands’ and is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive,” Kreidler says. “The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words- Rei, which means ‘universal’ and ki, which is life force energy, so Reiki is ‘spiritually guided life force energy.’”
Reiki is something that has really been growing in popularity because of its success and how easy it is to use. “Many hospitals, clinics and offices have implemented Reiki as a practice to reduce stress and increase natural healing for employees and patients. Reiki is used to aid the natural healing within your body. It can be combined with other modalities to speed the body’s ability to heal.”
During a Reiki session, each client is fully clothed and are wrapped with blankets so they can be comfortable. “Reiki can be practiced with touch or by holding hands slightly off the body. The practitioner gently holds their hands in positions on the body to increase the energy flow to that area for several minutes and then moves the hands slowly to the next location, she says. “A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person, including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.”
“Reflexology is the science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. It is not massage, but a particular method of using the thumb and fingers to stimulate reflex areas,” Kreidler says. “As a reflexologist works the reflex areas on your feet or hands, the patterns of tension held in your body are interrupted, which then allows your body’s own healing wisdom to emerge. Reflexology is like hitting a reset button inside your body.”
A Reflexology session starts out with a conversation with Kreidler about your medical history, physical symptoms and figure out where they want to begin on their body. “During a session, some people stay awake and alert, asking questions or chatting with the practitioner,” she says. “Other people may stay awake but prefer to close their eyes and gently relax, while others go deep inside and totally relax to the point of falling asleep or choosing a lucid dream experience.”
Science has proven that stress is a huge cause of pain, illness and disease. “People turn to Reflexology for the relief of all kinds of symptoms, everything from back pain to digestive issues to infertility and depression, the roots of which are all exacerbated by stress and tension,” Kreidler says. “By relieving tension in the body’s reflex areas on your feet and hands, stress is alleviated and the healing wisdom inside the body can begin working to bring you back to wholeness.”
Along with Reiki and Reflexology, she also uses crystals, hot stones and aromatherapy.
