Our life coach columnist explains how self-love is the secret ingredient to staying grounded in uncertain times.

I don’t know about you, but I am in need of a pick-me-up, a moment to pause and be reminded of feeling happiness and gratitude without all the fear and doubt that is consuming so many. Stop letting the fear override your hope. Fear will only lead to more scarcity and uncertainty.  

But, Melissa, it’s scary times for the world. And yes, I hear you, it’s been that way since you arrived on the planet.  It just comes in different forms and look at you. You have survived all the times before that you thought was the end.

Start with you by making selfcare a priority. If you neglect taking care of you first and only focus on others  – family, friends and clients, navigating the current state of pandemonium in our world, you may quickly lose sight of the importance of releasing all that you are observing and absorbing from others and forget to release what’s not yours to come back to being fully grounded in your body.

I challenge you, starting today, to consider using the phrases I AM A “spirit of love” and I AM A “good finder”. These two phrases become a mantra that will shift your focus to a higher vibrational level and begin to release FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) in order to open the mind and heart to expand in self-love.  

Self-love is the best kept secret because “how you love yourself is how you teach others to love you” and loving yourself is a crucial step in the human experience because of the ripple effect.

You know how the water will ripple when a raindrop falls on a body of water? Your love for you is how the ripple affects the people in your life, and their reactions in return affects you. The impact you have on the world is greater than you can imagine so begin using the ripple effect to make a positive difference and spread waves of kindness that will wash over the world and joyfully return to you tenfold.

P.S. – The act of grounding or coming back to center can also be achieved by doing simple things such as burning incense or sage, taking a bubble/essential oils bath, meditation, listening to music, or taking a walk in nature. Your intention is to reset your system and clear the mind, even if its just for a little while.
