Busy Mom Beautifiers
These
express salon and spa services help busy moms squeeze in beautification and relaxation on tight schedules and budgets.

Between taking care of the kids and working that 9-to-5 job, moms can hardly find the time to pamper themselves. Even though you are always on the go, making time to relax and get beautified should be on your to-do list. Many local salons and spas have express services for women with busy schedules. As a working mom, you deserve to treat yourself.

Tuscany Spa and Salon

Got 30 minutes? Tuscany offers express "Taste of Tuscany" services - including manicures, pedicures, facials and massages - that take only 30 minutes. Other 30 minute services include makeup application and a shampoo and style.

"Life for working moms is hectic. We have several clients who come during their lunch breaks or after work," says Liz Reaney, general manager of Tuscany. These clients receive one of the Taste of Tuscany services or the executive services, which offer 40 minutes facials or massages, or they find their relaxation through a haircut or waxing/threading services.0309EVERYTHINGPETS.jpg

Tuscany also has developed a "Touch and Go" color service for clients who do all-over color and come in for a "Touch and Go" between full-color services. "This service entails coloring the part line and the hairline around the face. Some clients will leave wet," Reaney says. "The total service time is one hour — less time and less money."

If you want more relaxation, Tuscany offers a full range of massages (from 30 to 120 minutes) and Epicuren Body Treatments, which combine massage with detoxifying applications. "Facials are also extremely relaxing," Reaney says. "Our estheticians do a thorough skin analysis to customize products best suited for the skin type. Facials are a wonderful treatment and a great form of relaxation as clients receive facial, neck arm and foot massage."

Ambience Salon Spa

"The hardest thing for busy moms to do is focus on themselves. One thing a busy mom should do is receive a great haircut," says Katie Rupert, marketing director for Ambience. The Ambience design team has the training to give you a stylish haircut that you can re-create at home in your own bathroom. Busy moms also deserve some stress relief, and that's why Ambience offers two free sensory experiences with every haircut a guest receives, Rupert says. These sensory experiences include a seated chair massage, mini facial, steam towel conditioning treatment, hand and arm massage, or a makeup touchup.

For a mom on the go, Ambience offers its signature "Gloss and Glow" service - a deep-conditioning, hair-glossing treatment with or without color boost - and Aveda's Purefecting Plant Peel. "This peel is our natural version of a 30 percent glycolic peel, which is free of irritation and redness. After the peel, your stylist will cut and style your hair," Rupert says. "While your peel is on your skin, we offer a hand and arm massage, so you can truly relax. All that takes about two hours. We call it 'Beauty on Demand.'"

Ambience also offers a blow-dry style that will allow you to sleep in (yes, sleep in!). A properly created blow-dry style should last you anywhere from two to five days, depending on your hair type, Rupert says. The result: not having to spend the full time on your hair in the morning. "Let's say you allow yourself 30 minutes of styling time each morning," Rupert says. "If your blow-dry style lasts you three days, that equals one and a half hours of extra shut eye time for you. We all know sleep is a precious commodity for a busy mom."

The Woodhouse Day Spa

You don't have to skip eating to enjoy a spa treatment on your lunch break. The Woodhouse Day Spa offers a catered lunch as an add-on to any of its services. You can go in for a manicure, pedicure or a massage and have lunch in a quiet room after you're finished. "If you've never eaten lunch in a robe, I highly recommend it," says Chris Mann, owner of the Woodhouse Day Spa. "It's also a great way to meet with clients, a job interviewee, or take a meeting."

The volcanic stone massage is one of their more popular for relaxation, especially during the winter season. Warm volcanic stones are used as part of the massage. The heat helps loosen the muscles and makes the massage more effective. The Woodhouse Day Spa also offers a variety of 20- and 30-minute treatments including massages, reflexology and a "Shirodhara Scalp Massage." The spa also offers a unique express service of doing manicures and pedicures at the same time. This allows for you to receive two services in the time it would normally take for just one.0109TUSCANY_inarticle.gif

Mann recommends one of their aromatherapy baths for a busy mom who wants additional relaxation. "You soak for 20 to 30 minutes in our claw foot bathtub with rose petals, aromatherapy oils and sea salts. Then you move from the tub to the massage table for a massage," Mann says. "The warm water and organic elements in the bath loosen the muscles and makes for a more effective massage."

Salon Beck

Salon Beck offers a block color technique that is less time consuming and less expensive than a highlight service. "Our clients love the look and like that they are on to their next stop faster than if they had highlights," says Sue Beck Currie, creative director of Salon Beck.

If you want a manicure, Currie recommends a 30-minute manicure with nail technician Michael Winkfield to take time out from your hectic schedule. Salon Beck also offers a 30-minute express pedicure that gives you a chance to sit back and relax in a massage chair. The spa pedicure includes a choice of paraffin or callus treatment and spa grade mask, scrub and moisturizer.

Most of Salon Beck services can be completed in an hour. Other one-hour or less services include a signature shampoo, cut and finish, 15-minute brow waxing, and a makeup application and lesson. Salon Beck offers the Paula Dorf makeup line for their makeup application. The line is famous for unique products that offer solutions to every woman's makeup concerns, Currie says.

All hair services offered at Salon Beck include a visit to their Lather Lounge where you can unwind while receiving their signature shampoo and scalp massage.
