For years, flowers have been the go-to gift to make mom feel special on Mother's Day. But if you don't know your flora from your fauna, Emma Welles, bridal and special events consultant at Jones the Florist, can help.

Welles began working with Jones the Florist as a psychology student at the University of Cincinnati and is now celebrating a 10 year tenure with the company. And in that time, has had more than enough experience with the chaos last minute Mother's Day shoppers can bring to a floral shop. According to Welles, Mother's Day is only exceeded by Valentine's day as the busiest business day of the year for Jones the Florist and popularity for bringing a smile to mom's face with a bouquet is only growing. "Annual trends show a 12 to 15% growth in the month of May," says Welles.

The Mother's Day bouquets at Jones the Florist come in a variety of colors and styles. "Every mother is unique," says Welles, "so we try to offer a variety of options." But if you are overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of options to choose from, Welles offers a few of the most popular trends for Mother's Day arrangements.

For the mother who loves tradition and elegance, spring flowers are an excellent choice. The colors are beautiful and vibrant. More modern moms may opt for a more contemporary or modern bulb placed in a square or round glass setting. Jones also offers a number of potted and hanging plants for the mother who enjoys gardening.

Jones the Florist partners with Sweets in Bloom, a sister company which puts a tasty twist to the traditional bouquet. Instead of flowers, Sweets in Bloom specializes in candy bouquets. "My favorite is the 'blast from the past' bouquet," says Welles. This arrangement features old fashioned candies which are guaranteed to delight mom by bringing up fond memories of days gone by.

In addition to their many Mother's day offerings, Jones the florist assures customers that they are receiving the best quality of plants available. Within the past couple of years, Jones has been implementing green options for their business. "We buy all locally grown plants," says Welles. The company also recycles the cardboard used for transporting the plants. In addition to this, the plants are "verifloral certified," meaning they are grown in environmentally friendly and social friendly environments.

Jones the Florist will be taking Mother's Day orders from now right through the holiday. Click Here to learn more about Jones the Florist or to view this year's Mother's Day arrangements.
