To curate means to select, organize, and display items in a collection or exhibition. Taking a cue from this concept, Curate Boutique officially opens as Cincinnati's newest women's fashion boutique, specializing in the curation of your closet.

Owner Courtney PeGan spent the first eight years of her career working in corporate America. But, inspired by her entrepreneur father who owned his business for 40 years, PeGan's ultimate dream has been to own her own business. She saw firsthand how fulfilling it is to turn a passion into a profession, and she wanted that for herself. "However, I knew whatever field I chose needed to be a labor of love because it is incredibly hard work," says PeGan.

PeGan says she has always loved fashion and dressing up, but wasn't fond of the process of shopping until she discovered boutique shopping here in Cincinnati. Her favorite store was the now-closed Suki in Hyde Park. "I loved the service and the clothing I would find was unique and special," recalls PeGan.

She finally decided to take the plunge and turn her "dream job" into a "reality job" last year while talking with her father. "He supported me and even dreamed with me about how he could help and what the future would look like," PeGan explains. "When he died last April, I was determined to follow through on all those plans we made." Inspired by his entrepreneurial spirit and supported by amazing friends, family and former employers, PeGan decided to go all in on this dream and open the doors to her new store before the anniversary of her father's passing.

"I love the idea of creating unique, hand selected style collections for shoppers to discover amazing pieces that will elevate their personal style, making them feel beautiful and unique," explains PeGan.

The idea behind "Style Collections" was born because PeGan wanted to house very different styles and aesthetics under one roof, but with some semblance of order. These Style Collections enable shoppers to know the story behind why each piece was chosen and how it fits within a broader trend, style. Shoppers can pick and choose pieces from each collection or stick with the collection that best fits her unique sense of style. These highly curated collections will be refreshed seasonally to highlight evolving trends and styles.

"Curate Boutique is meant to be a fun destination to play, discover, shop, and own unique, thoughtful styles from up and coming designers. Kind of like going over to your über trendy best friend's house to search through her closet," laughs PeGan, "except everything is for sale here!"

The store, located at 3433 Edwards Rd., celebrated its Grand Opening on April 6, and the online store will follow by end of Summer 2013. Future plans will enable Curate to launch its own label of clothing and the style collections will benefit from buying trips all around the globe.

"I also believe that what will make Curate a unique boutique is our price point," explains PeGan. "Nothing in the store is over $300, and most of our merchandise is under $200. I want to make boutique shopping more accessible, so you can find unique pieces from up and coming designers for a more accessible price than high end designer boutiques."
