For Katie Davidson, the past decade has been dedicated to building a voice and piano studio. "During that time, I wasn’t able to focus on my image," she explains.

Today, she has a successful studio and is ready to begin her next verse in life: heading back to school to receive her Master’s in voice pedagogy and performance. But before she does, she wants to change her tune. "I would love to receive a makeover to act as a start to the next chapter of my career," Davidson says.

Turns out, this songstress got her wish, as Davidson won this month’s "Monthly Makeover" from Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa. This "Monthly Makeover" program randomly selects one lucky lady to win a complimentary hair and makeup makeover at Mitchell’s. The winner is featured in a future issue of Cincy Chic. Davidson visited the Kenwood Mitchell’s and met with stylist Bianca Warren, who says, "I gave Katie a significant change in her length using a dry cut to add subtle layers, remove weight and lend to easy styling that she could still wear curly."

She added richness and depth to Davidson’s color and darkened it so that her green eyes and light complexion would stand out. "We avoided highlights since maintenance is something she struggled with," Warren says.

She used Shine Shampoo and Conditioner by Bumble and bumble ($24.20, $25.30), Thickening Spray by Bumble and bumble ($28.60) at the roots when hair was wet, Straight by Bumble and bumble ($28.60) on the ends when hair was wet, Dry Texturizing Spray by Oribe ($43.00) when hair was dry, spread Quenching Complex by Bumble and bumble ($37.50) through ends of hair to create "pieciness," and Spray D’Mode by Bumble and bumble ($28.60) for the finishing touch.

Then, Andrea Alkire, makeup artist at Mitchell’s took over to give her a fresh, classic look that accented her bold and beautiful natural features. Alkire used a Jane Iredale Amber foundation ($50.60), Bisque powder ($49.50), Golden Apricot blush ($28.60), Tribal Cognac and Oyster/Supernova on the eyes ($29.75 each), Moonglow shimmer ($50.60), Iced Mocha lip gloss ($21.00), Spice lip liner ($10.00) and Black brown eye pencil ($10.00).

After seeing herself in the mirror for the first time after her makeover was complete, Davidson was speechless, which was a first for this vocal virtuoso.
