Personal shopping to update your beauty regimen, makeup lessons, and glam-up parties for a girl’s night in. These are just a few of Jean Folchi’s favorite things.

Jean Folchi Makeup Artistry is an on-location makeup artistry business that specializes primarily in providing wedding makeup for the bride and her bridal party. Folchi also serves clients for special events and everyday makeup needs in the form of lessons and/or personal shopping.

“I also sell skincare products,” says Folchi. “Keeping the skin healthy is one of the most important aspects of keeping your makeup lasting and looking fresh.”

The inspiration behind starting her business was to continue working in an industry that she loves. “Having moved away from the retail industry and after having children, it allowed me to have a flexible schedule so I could continue to be a stay at home mom,” says Folchi.

Folchi started her business in 1999 working with clients that she had from her days as a business manager and then regional makeup artist for Chanel cosmetics. “I’d do a wedding here and there, then it eventually grew to over 50 weddings per year by myself,” says Folchi.

“I have been able to consistently serve my bridal clients as well as broaden it to serving wedding professional such as photographers, P&G for large events, Flashes of Hope, a non-profit organization that photographs children with Cancer and their families to provide them with portraits, and providing makeup for head shots for various business professionals,” says Folchi. “I have also worked with Cincinnati-based Chica Bands, a headband company, and on a print campaign.”

You may have also seen Folchi on the Fox 19 news morning show where she’s been featured. In addition, Folchi has been honored to received various Bride’s Choice Awards from Wedding Wire as well as “Best of Weddings” four or more times.

“I have been featured in Cincinnati Weddings magazine several times as well as my first appearance this year in VeganWeddingsHQ,” says Folchi. “I had my first Vegan bride this year that required all Vegan makeup, challenging but very fun!”

Working with brides on one of the most special days of her life is what Folchi loves most about what she does. “Also, being able to transform someone, giving them a mirror and seeing the reaction of huge smiles and sometimes tears, in a good way!” says Folchi. “I love getting to know people, what they do, their goals and dreams and keeping a relationship with them after the service or wedding is over. I love to receive referrals from my clients, as this is the highest form of a compliment to me; repeat business as well as new business!”

Folchi prides herself on the fact that all of her services are personalized because she loves working one on one with people. “My most important service that I provide is exceptional customer service,” she adds. “I feel I can keep quality control that way and if a challenge should arise, I have no one to turn to but me to fix it!”

As for the future, Folchi hopes to be known on the Cincinnati wedding scene as one of the premier on-location makeup artists. She also wants to expand her blog content, which she uses to review products and report what’s new on the beauty scene. “And, of course, let people know of my favorite products,” says Folchi. “I have been in this industry for 18 years and it will be a great way to share my knowledge!”

“I am also an esthetician and in the future I hope to move toward expanding my business to serve my clients’ skincare and waxing needs,” she continues. “There may just be some grooming in the works to have one – or both – of my daughters work with me one day!”
