Bianca Vayna is a Master Colorist at Tanya’s Image and Wellness Salon |
For Bianca Vayna, a second generation hairstylist, doing hair was not in her initial career plans.
After graduating from Miami Jacobs with a degree in Fashion Merchandising at age 25, Vayna left her hometown of Dayton and moved to L.A. to pursue her fashion industry dreams. While building experience at Bullock’s department store and ICM, one of the world’s largest talent and literary agencies, she attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising for Visual Presentation and Space Design.
Seeking more creativity, Vayna took a job as a receptionist at the high-end Juan Juan Salon in Beverly Hills. She quickly moved into an assistant position and became a licensed cosmetologist in 1995. She went on to work at some of Beverly Hills’ top salons; first as a colorist at Maurice Azoulay Salon, as a senior colorist at Sager French Salon and then at Warren Tricomi Salon as a Master Colorist. Through that work, she was exposed to cutting edge design and current trends while working with internationally known models, costume designers, actors, movie executives and musicians.
In 2009, she became an educator for L’Oreal Professional. As a Corporate and National Trainer, she was responsible for educating the salons and distributor salons on L’Oreal Professional brands throughout Southern California, while still working behind the chair.
In 2012, Vayna made the decision to bring her experience and West Coast style savvy to Cincinnati. Today, she is based at Tanya’s Image and Wellness Salon in Hyde Park where she is a Master Colorist and specializes in extensions. She also solely works with L’Oreal Professional brands, and still does in-salon education and various events. Along with training, she educates, inspires and motivates while teaching on the newest trends and latest technologies in hair color. “I teach trend-watching to stay ahead while creating an environment where more can be discovered,” says Vayna. “I get inspiration from everywhere. I watch how people interpret trends. I also look in magazines because celebrities are leaders when it comes to new trends.”
Experienced in a variety of color application – from foil work, color correction and creative color – her personal favorite is Balayage, which is a specialized technique of painting the hair that offers a more gradual grow out. “I believe in soft and sexy hair,” says Vayna, “hair that desires to be touched.”
She also does red carpet and retro styling along with extension work. Everything is done and completely customized to bring out the clients’ own individualized beauty, she says. “I love recommending the top five looks and new colors for the upcoming season,” Vayna adds. “I’m inspired by what clients do at home with their hair so then I can get a better insight on how to style their hair next to fit their needs.”
