Megan Dashley, a stylst at Stylin’ On Main in Milford

For Megan Dashley, a stylist at Stylin’ On Main, believes “Hairstylists are wonderful people who touch more hearts than hair.” That’s because her passion isn’t just beautiful hair; it’s empowering others to be beautiful people inside and out.

“Working behind the chair as my own business woman has been a wonderful period of growth in my life and it’s allowed me to be a better mom, wife, friend and stylist,” says Dashley. “I believe everyone deserves to look and feel amazing and I will do whatever I have to do to make sure each client leaves my chair feeling phenomenal.”

Stylin’ On Main is located at 212 Main Street in Milford. The owner Tanya Kircher, who purchased the salon in 2005. Over the years, the salon has evolved into a booth rental salon, which allows experienced stylists to work independently. “We have 11 stylists who own their own business within the salon,” explains Dashley.

“I’ve worked for a few different salons since I graduated from Aveda Fredrics in 2006, and I was able to figure out through trial and error what I wanted for my business and how I wanted things to be run,” says Dashley. “I took a leap of faith on my career in October 2010 to join the Stylin’ On Main team.” Dashley goes on to say that when she first started, there were only five stylists and since then it has expanded to a nine station salon with 11 independent stylists.

“My women’s haircuts start at $34 and my coloring services start at $75,” says Dashley, who also offers Keratin Smoothing treatments starting at $200.

“I tend to book out more than a typical stylist because I know their time at the salon is just as valuable as mine,” says Dashley. “I don’t ever want my clients to feel that I’m rushing them out or just running through the motions,” Dashley says. “I’m always looking for new ways to grow as a woman and a stylist. I feel blessed to have a career where I can learn from everyone who sits in my chair.”

According to Dashley, all stylists at Stylin’ On Main go to conferences and courses throughout the year to stay updated on industry standards, as well as trends and techniques. “I’m always searching for the next step to take my clients services to the next level,” she adds. “With a salon remodel just around the corner and a lot more educational courses throughout the year, I’m excited to relaunch and blow my clients away.”
