A trendy and urban-chic environment, fun and upbeat music, social stylist stations, and a family of staff. For Brand Manager, Sarah DuMont, these are the things about Urban Salon that she loves most.

“The music we play is awesome, and the interior just makes me smile every day I come to work,” she says. “The stylist stations create a very social and community-like scene. We also have this amazing wallpaper on the back of the salon – black and white pictures of people from all different ages, races and gender.”

However, according to DuMont, the staff is what truly creates the environment. “These stylists have been together through their training prior to the opening,” she says, “so they are like a family and are always willing to help each other out.”

Urban Salon is the new sister salon to Valenti Salon & Spa, which was the previous tenant of Urban Salon’s current space. When Urban Salon opened, Valenti Salon & Spa moved to a larger space down the street at 8315 Beechmont.

Urban Salon officially opened their doors on Wednesday, November 19 with an exclusive invitation-only grand opening. The concept features new, talented stylists who want to hone their skillsets and express their creativity on a market that is more open-minded.

According to DuMont, Urban Salon offers a quality hair experience — to male and female guests alike — at a more affordable price point with value added, innovative and trendy services while experiencing its urban chic design and social environment.

“Anna Fischer-Capozzolo and her brother, Vince Fischer, owners of Valenti Salon & Spa, have a dedication to their long-time, loyal employees,” says DuMont. “Between stylists and administrative staff, Valenti had many employees who wanted to stay with the company and continue to grow. With the opening of Urban Salon, a door opened to many employees to continue their careers within the company between management and stylist positions.”

They also knew this concept would fill a void in the area. “We appeal to the needs of the trend-setting millennial generation that is ever-growing in and around Cincinnati,” says DuMont. “We’re creating a scene that this generation would be proud to call their salon. The millennial generation is looking for a unique salon environment that is trendy and innovative, and gives them an experience to share with friends.”

As an Aveda-concept salon, Urban Salon sells and uses all Aveda products. All of their cut, color and styling services include a stress-relieving scalp massage, customized conditioning treatment, hot towel treatment and an Aveda mini facial. “Coming in for a visit is real treat every time – even if it’s just for a blowout style for a Friday night,” says DuMont.

According to DuMont, Urban Salon’s team is trained on all of the latest trends of hair styles and hair color – from men’s “dapper ‘dos” to balayage and ombre highlights and even fashion colors such as vibrant blues, greens, reds and purples. “They are trained equally on men’s and women’s cuts so [everyone] can come in and receive the latest trends,” says DuMont. “We have ongoing and advanced education, so the Creative Team will always remain in the forefront of style and fashion.”

DuMont says 2015 is going to be an exciting year for Urban Salon and their clients. “Look for us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest to see our great promotions, partnerships with local businesses and awesome incentives,” she adds.
