One Hundred Wise Women helps close the gap between mentoring and networking for women

Attaining and building relationships with clients, co-workers and the community is an essential asset for career growth. That’s why One Hundred Wise Women launched a program that bridges the gap between mentoring and networking for women seeking leadership roles.

“The concept behind One Hundred Wise Women is to enable rising women leaders to learn from our community’s most accomplished career women and vice versa,” says Darlene Singer a committee member for One Hundred Wise Women. “These professional women need both mentors and diverse networks for both their careers and communities.”

The program One Hundred Wise Women started in 2004. In 2005, Procter & Gamble, Taft Stettinius & Hollister, and U.S. Bank joined Deloitte as sponsors of One Hundred Wise Women.

The group hosts a quarterly breakfast four times a year. The next event will be an invitation only breakfast held January 24, 2014 at the Westin Hotel located at 21 East 5th Street. Future breakfast events will be held in April 2014. “To date, we have had around 4,200 women from diverse backgrounds attend and participate,” says Singer. “These events help women collaborate while sharing their stories related to career and personal development.”

The program was created by Beth Rader, a recent retiree from Deloitte, to provide a comfortable setting for sharing topics related to career and personal development. The program focus is modeled around the power of sharing and learning. And it’s a model that’s now being duplicated in other cities.

“[It’s] inspiring that the One Hundred Wise Women model has been replicated beyond Cincinnati, with similar programs in cities including Columbus, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, Seattle, and Los Angeles,” explains Singer. “The program is delighted to have planted a seed for more women to leverage the power of networking.”

But they aren’t done growing here in Cincinnati. “As the format of the program has been very successful, we continue to connect with the community through LinkedIn and the One Hundred Wise Women website, stay tuned to our website for any new updates,” says Singer.
