Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. ~Henry Ford

I did it! I ran the pig!

Mind you, I’m feeling a little rough right now. Two of my toenails are bruised and blistered (99% sure I’ll lose them), my legs are so sore I have to crawl up the stairs and I’m incredibly sun burnt (a sports bra leaves the ugliest tan lines, too!).

Well, turns out suntan lotion wasn’t the only thing I forgot. I forgot breakfast before the race, too! I know, crazy… I ran a marathon on an empty stomach! Dumb!

It was a fun race, though. Lots of people dressed up as pigs. Although, I didn’t see as many crazy outfits (land shark, iHop guy with portable grill, guy in a hospital robe with a fake butt) like I usually do on the Pig. But I saw a couple people I knew along the way – our associate editor, Carolyn, and our photographer, Neysa – and the last 1/2 mile of the Pig was incredible… it was COMPLETELY lined with people cheering us on. I’m still feeling a little emotional, so I was actually almost in tears when I saw that last enormous crowd. I was so overwhelmed with the support!

I had written my name on my arms and my stomach (which by the way, “AMY” is now imprinted on both my arms from the sunburn – apparently Sharpies have SPF in them!). So, everyone knew to yell my name when I went by. It was so powerful to hear people yelling my name as I pulled it in to the finish. Thank you to EVERYONE that came out to support us runners. It truly made a difference. To all of you runners out there… Congrats!

Here are a few pictures from the race… I was all decked out for Cincy Chic! 🙂
