First things first… IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!

Last night, I stayed up and waited (like a five year old) until it hit midnight. For some reason, I wanted to be wide awake when this new year rolled around. I feel like it’s going to be big… different… life changing… one that I’ll always look back on and remember fondly. It’s the year where I’ll get married. When we’ll take our honeymoon. Take our puppy to obedience school. Take Pete to obedience school. 🙂 Well, I’m quietly working on that last one. He did just sell his little sports car to help save money for finishing the basement. That’s progress isn’t it, ladies!?!

Another big thing that’s about to happen is our move into a new, “real” office. For the past year and a half, Cincy Chic has been operating out of a “virtual office,” which means our staff, interns, contract employees, event planners and freelancers have all been working from our home offices and emailing/calling/keeping Starbucks in business to get everything we do done. From the get-go, I knew that wasn’t the best set-up, but honestly, with us being an online-only publication, there wasn’t an immediate need for space. But since our staff has grown so large, and Cincy Chic stuff started to take over our already “cozy” home, I decided it was time to look for space.

I looked in Hyde Park, Clifton, Blue Ash, 4th St. downtown and didn’t find anything that really caught my eye. But I’ve been working with the Gateway Quarter (new Over the Rhine area) for almost a year now, and most recently I worked with them for our “small space solutions” lunch n learn. Kathleen Norris, an AMAZING realtor for that area, told me about a few office spaces that were opening and took me through them. I was a little humbled when I didn’t like any of them either… but then, she showed me one last one. I absolutely loved it. I saw it all… fun bistro kitchen in the room with a fireplace, a big conference table in the big front room, desks in the big back room, and all the Cincy Chic stuff in the storage room. We acted quickly to nab it up, and now two weeks later, we’re all moved in (which is probably why I haven’t blogged in the past two weeks).

Lisa, my event planner (who owns a big honkin’ truck) and I went to IKEA yesterday afternoon and bought the place out. Well, not really. Kinda put a small dent in the place. But it was awesome. I really love it there. We filled up four carts worth of stuff and still didn’t break $1,000. Try doing that at West Elm! 🙂 Lisa and her daughter are now having a “put together” day today, and tomorrow we’ll have a sprucing up day. Thursday I have my first meetings in the new space scheduled. I’m so so so excited! Here are a few pics!
