06.23.08 – Editor in Chic Blog – Blossoming….

As a writer, you look for just the right word, phrase or quote to help you describe and express the potent feeling or idea you have in your head. When I read that quote, I couldn’t have put this past week – or the decision to move into our new office – any other way.

We truly blossomed last week, and it was beautiful to see it happen. Just as you know the bee landing on a flower will help to pollinate your flower garden, I watched as our staff settled in and our wide-eyed interns took on their first projects. Two years ago, my idea for Cincy Chic was simply that: an idea. There was no Web site, there was no staff, there was no office. But now there is. And now we work together, share ideas and feed off eachother’s energy. It’s just awesome, in every sense of the word.

We all work from home on Mondays and Fridays, but I’ve been coming to the office just because I like the separation of church and state, if you will. I like leaving for work and coming home. There’s something psychological about the divide. But as I sit here typing, I miss looking up at Maureen our Managing Editor and making a joke about something that popped in my head, or asking an intern to watch over my shoulder so I can teach her how to write a blog on our site.

Last week we had our first brainstorming meeting here at the office and it was great. So you will see lots of new changes come to the site and our events, so stay tuned. We’re in the midst of blossoming and we hope you enjoy the beautiful bouquet we have planned! Okay, I know, enough with the play on words! I’m going to make like a tree and leave now! 🙂
