New Year’s Picks!
Hello all,
I hope everyone has had a great holiday and I wish you all a wonderful New Year!
Everywhere you look, there will be lists telling you how to spend the end of 2008. To be easy on the eyes, I will limit my picks to three:
1. If you wish you were in New Orleans, you need to head to Arnold’s Cafe for New Year’s Eve. They are fixing a special Cajun menu (with vegetarian options) as well as hosting a live Cajun band, CEA nominees Lagniappe. $39.95 covers dinner and $10 covers music and champagne. Food service begins at 5 and the band starts at 9 p.m. The festivities go until 2:30 a.m. (though the band plays until 1 a.m.) Walk-ins are accepted, but reservations are recommended. 210 E. 8th St. Info: 513-421-6234.
2. If swing is your thing, foxtrot down to York St. Cafe, where they will also be serving a special a la carte menu … and featuring the Swingtime Band in their upstairs space for dancing and revelry the night long. $20 cover for the music, dinner items are priced individually. Dinner starts around 5:30 and music starts at 8:30. 738 York St. Newport. Info: 859-261-9675.
3. Or, if you prefer a little edgy, Carnivolution is the solution. This mixed bag of fun involves everything from fire dancing to live music to carnival games. $20 at the door. It’s happening at The Mockbee from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. 2260 Central Parkway.
Have fun and a great 2009!
