The WU  –Weekend Update– Feb. 22-24

There’s lots going on this weekend! Hope to see you at one of these events : )

Also, please note below two new sections: Service and Classes.

Friday, at Baba Budan’s Coffeehouse, groove to the sounds of Michael McIntire and the Marmalade Brigade … a Tom Waitsesque band of musical misfits. It’s a gravelly, Gypsy, bluesy, rocky, Latiny hodge-podge of styles that is unique and hip. Baba’s serves a variety of international beers as well as espresso drinks and food. Music from 8 p.m. to midnight. Free. 239 W. Mc Millan St. in  Clifton.

Saturday, get cultured at the mall – no, seriously! Tri-County Mall will be featuring the Mercy Hospital Day of Dance … and there is a cool Carribbean ensemble you’ll have to check out. Called Kai Kweol , which means Creole House in Creole, this group blends African, Carribbean and Modern dance styles in a very engaging way. The performance will take place on the first floor between the fountain and Dillards. If you like what you see, the director Flora Leptak-Moreau also teaches classes for children and adults.

Sunday, check out Charlotte’s Web at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. Great for kids and really big kids. Children six and younger get in free, everyone else pays $7-12. Showtime is 1 p.m. 1310 Sycamore, downtown.

Service

Or, if a one-time workshop is more your style, there’s a Salsa
Bootcamp 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, at Leapin Lizard Gallery . A great way to get started! $25.
Please wear comfy clothes and leather-soled shoes.

That’s all for this weekend folks, have a great one!!
