The WU (Weekend Update) Oct. 10-12

Hi everyone! It’s great to be back. I hope you are ready to party this weekend, because there are some really amazing (like once a year) shows happening!
Friday
On Friday, the new 9-piece Latin Jazz band Poco Loco will be playing for the first time at the Blue Wisp downtown … and opening for Cincy’s All-Star Latin Jazz band with Puerto Rican master percussionist Jose Rosa on congas, Sonia and Jaime Morales (on piano and trombone, respectively), Bill Jackson on bass, Chris Velez on bongos and Anthony Lee on drumset. There will also be a dance group called Salsa Underground performing and giving free Salsa lessons. It’s going to be out of this world. The show goes from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. next Friday Oct. 10 at the Blue Wisp downtown, 318 E 8th St. Admission is $15, all ages admitted.
Saturday
World Music Fest is almost here! This once-a-year musical extravaganza happens on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. at the Southgate House in Newport, KY, 24 E 3rd St. This year, there are 17 groups performing on all four floors of the SGH, all night, as well as a multi-media art exhibit featuring 18 artists in the upstairs gallery. There are a few international performers, including a Brazilian guitarist and a Puerto Rican percussionist, as well as a good number of wonderful local groups! Ages 18+ $15 prepaid on the Southgate House website, or $20 at the door. For a full listing of the lineup and other details, please visit: www.worldmusicfest.org.
