To Do or To Pay

This week was a true test to the human race for my sister. Trying to decide what color to paint her walls was the easy part…trying to do it herself or hire professionals became the hard part. She called me asking for an opinion. Her mistake what that I think she knew what I would say. I’m a do-it-yourselfer who finds satisfaction in hard work and who finds it difficult to pay someone more than $100 for something that I could have done myself. Yes, that did cause me to live without a bathroom and kitchen for a couple of months. However it did allow me to save thousands of dollars. My sister likes to save money, but she also likes to spend money. After talking to me, the painting began. Spilled paint, orange carpet, dirty clothes and paint stained hair became part of our bonding experience. She saved money but I think she will realize that she will be more satisfied looking at her orange walls knowing that she was a part of the transforming process. What do you think? Is it better to tackle these projects yourself or call the professionals?
