February has been designated as the official "American Heart Month," and since heart disease is the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women campaign is all about keeping women's hearts healthy in a fun and fashionable way.

If you are both fashion and heart conscious, head to these local retailers to get your fashionably red fix:

In addition to the ongoing support of their multi-year national sponsorship, Macy's supported Go Red through a special National Wear Red Day promotion. On Friday, February 1, Macy's offered an all-day savings pass for customers wearing the signature heart-health color, red. For those who forgot their red, Macy's offered a Go Red For Women Red Dress pin and an all-day savings pass with a $2 donation to the American Heart Association.0208_INSTORY_makebelieveball.gif

Geoffrey Beene is proud to support Macy's national sponsorship of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. From Feb. 1- 29, with every purchase of select Geoffrey Beene Collection men's dress shirts, cufflinks or neckwear at Macy’s, Geoffrey Beene will donate 10 percent of the price you pay to Go Red. So ladies, if the male in your life is hesitant to wear red, at least he'll be wearing a "red" item!

Swarovski created the Red Dress Pin, Red Dress Charm and the 2008 Go Red For Women Collection and will donate $150,000 to the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement. You can find lovely jewelry pieces such as these at its store in the Kenwood Towne Center.

From Jan. 12- Feb. 15th, Brighton Collectibles is donating $5 from every sale of the 2008 Go Red For Women Bracelet and is asking retailers to match that donation. Purchase the bracelet online or at any of these authorized Tri-state retailers.

Le Mystère will donate $1 to the Go Red For Women movement from the sale of each of select lingerie sold from January 1 through March 31, 2008. Check out the selected line at these stores (FYI, stores carrying the Go Red line are indicated with a heart.)

National Campaigns
When you purchase anything from the Shop Go Red Web site, the
0208GIBBERMAN.gif net proceeds supports the Go Red movement. You can find everything under the sun in a hue of red or pink, from jewelry, to yoga mats, to aprons, to cute t-shirts, to even shoe charms for your Crocs!

The Campbell Soup Company teamed up with six-time Grammy award-winner Toni Braxton and designer Lisa Perry to support the Go Red movement by having Perry create three exclusive Campbell red dresses, which America voted for the favorite in Campbell’s trademark red.

America picked the dress Braxton wore the winning dress on The View on Jan. 30th, and to keep the cause going, Campbell’s is encouraging everyone to visit www.goredwithcampbells.com and click on the winning dress. For each click, Campbell’s will donate $1 to the Go Red campaign.

In addition, you can purchase the Art of the Heart t-shirt and Campbell’s will donate 50 percent of the proceeds to Go Red.

But wait, there's more. Campbell’s also came up with the Red Dress Community, which is basically a networking forum that connects women interested in heart health. The best part of the forum? You get to be a virtual designer and have fun creating a red dress of your own! And since I don't wear dresses in real life, I joined and created a dress of my own! Check it out here!
