A Cheat Sheet for Spring’s Hottest Trends

As every fashionista will tell you, winter is the hardest season to dress for. But have no fear, spring is almost here, and local designers Danielle Delaine, Lisa Kiselewich and Brittney Kelley have just what it takes in their collections to set you apart from the crowd.

Hats are creeping their way back into the fashion scene. They come in all shapes and sizes and can be just what your ensemble needs to pop. "The trend right now is more flop hats and fedoras," says Delaine, owner and designer of Chapeau Couture Hat Boutique.

Delaine has been designing hats for about two years. After selling her hats at house parties and trunk shows, she recently opened a hat boutique in Silverton and says that "from church to chic, everything is unique" in her collection.

You’ll be able to find your Kentucky Derby style hats, but for a trendier, less traditional look, Delaine also carries fascinators. These accessories fall somewhere between an embellished headband and a full-scale hat.

Whether you’re looking to make a statement or to find shade from the sun, you can find what you need at Chapeau Couture Hat Boutique at 7053 Montgomery Rd.

Naturally Inspired

Jewelry is always in style, and Lisa K. Designs is perfect for spring. Inspired by nature, these pieces add a hint of class and style to your outfit without being flashy.

Birds are a fun and recurring theme in the jewelry. "The bird collection has just been so popular," Owner and designer Kiselwich says. "That’s kind of been one of my fun new collections for spring."

Much of Kiselwich’s inspiration comes from her childhood spent outdoors exploring Southern California. "From an early age, I really appreciated all the beauty in the nature," she says. "So I kind of reflect that in my jewelry, whether it’s in the colors or the shape or the textures or the materials."

Her spring collection incorporates a beach palette, inspired by her upcoming beach wedding in Florida. The collection includes muted and bright turquoises and pale purples.

You can find her collection around town at several stores like The Bird Garden in West Chester, Redtree Gallery in Oakley, and Morrison and Me in O’Bryonville. You also can shop her collection from the comforts of your home at LisaKDesigns.com.

Give Yourself a Hand(bag)

The perfect handbag always seems to tie a look together, and the Brittney Kelley Handbag Collection has something that will make that magic happen no matter your age or personality.

Owner and designer Kelley started designing handbags out of her love for fashion and accessories. A self-proclaimed fashionista, she wanted her collection to reflect herself and her love for glamour but also be timeless pieces that offer sophistication and class at budget-friendly prices. 1209KROMBHOLZ.gif

"I wanted to create handbags that all women can appreciate and can wear and just feel fabulous, whether it’s a clutch or a bowler bag," she says.

This spring expect to see lots of blues, pastels and corals. "Last year was the first year of bright colors," she says. "We’re going to continue to see that. There is going to be a lot of tote bags, and a new trend is people are starting to use laptop bags as handbags."

No matter the color or style, though, every Brittney Kelley handbag comes with a pink lining to represent breast cancer awareness.
