Warming up to Personalized Scarves
While the weather outside is frightful,
A scarf can be so delightful.
For a scarf where can you go?
Think Lulette! Think Lulette! Think Lulette!
Lulette technically might not be included in any famous holiday songs, but it is definitely a company you shouldn’t forget in all of the holiday spirit. This Cincinnati-based online shop specializes in one of winter’s most fashionable accessories: The scarf.
And whether you get a “Go Nuts!” scarf for your crazy girlfriend or the “Notation” scarf for that person who brings music to your life, Lulette offers an outlet to express yourself with your gift.
Forget the uber-common stripes and solids and even your sleeves, and wear your emotions on your scarf. If the seven motif scarves can’t do that for you, Lulette has 13 message scarves as well. From “here kitty, kitty…” to “amor vincit omnia” (“love conquers all”), you can run the gamut from fun and cute to pensive and philosophical.
If you still can’t find that expressive scarf for you, customize your own! Choose a font, base color and font color to encapsulate your 20-character-or-less message and have fun having a hand in the design process, says Diane Naegel, founder, owner and designer of Lulette. If you have trouble coming up with the perfect combination of words and colors to make those on your gift list smile, Naegel can answer any questions via e-mail. “You can tell them that you helped design [their gift] — because you did,” Naegel says, and unless you have some talented hands, Lulette is the only place to have something custom knit.
Scarves take an estimated four to six weeks for arrival, so get your orders in soon for those stocking stuffing scarves. Orders may arrive sooner, but Naegel cannot guarantee a quicker delivery because all of the yarn is imported specially from England. Naegel chose this yarn for Lulette scarves because it has the right weight and colors available in the same type of yarn. “I want to keep the quality consistent,” Naegel says, and if a scarf has different types of yarn, the scarf won’t feel right.
Besides supporting your friends’ love for fashion, buying Lulette scarves also supports local business and artisans. All scarves are knit by a group of local women in Indiana and shipped from Cincinnati. Born and raised in the Queen City, Naegel graduated from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning in 2003.
Currently Naegel works in New York City, designing kids’ accessories for OshKosh B’gosh, but she maintains strong ties to her hometown through Lulette. While she is in NYC, Naegel’s mother helps run the Cincinnati side of Lulette by overseeing shipments and keeping the books.
So with the days soon arriving,
Get online and start your buying!
And for presents they won’t forget,
Think Lulette! Think Lulette! Think Lulette!
