Designs by ADORN USA, which launched this summer |
Reverting back to her roots in the design and jewelry business, Arlene Aranzamendez launched ADORN USA this summer. ADORN USA is an online designer jewelry and accessories distributor that carries five handcrafted jewelry lines from international designers. ADORN USA offers a wide variety of stylish one-of-a-kind statement pieces that retain a sense of accessibility.
“Previously, I had been independently pursuing a jewelry design business, under my name, Arlene Aranzamendez. I started my line by selling pieces at boutique trunk shows and events. Along the way, I contacted — and was contacted by — several other jewelry designers around the globe,” Aranzamendez says. “ADORN USA was the natural progression of my love of design and my family’s history of being in the jewelry business, as my grandmother and mother sold fine jewelry.”
Before launching ADORN USA, Aranzamendez owned and operated a graphic design business for nine years. “ADORN was born out of a love for jewelry and a knack for creativity,” Aranzamendez says. “My talent comes from the nurturing of my mom and grandmother, but my success comes from those around me who have been so gracious and kind in helping me start this business.”
ADORN that comes from the Latin phrase “to add luster” was chosen as the global hub for an international roster of designers. That being said ADORN USA is very selective about the materials they use because of their prestigious high fashion reputation.
“Artisanal jewelry is as much about the process as the materials, and we pride ourselves in using the best. Some pieces in the Konstantin line feature hardware in resin, while others feature eco-raw materials like beads and twine,” Aranzamendez says. “The finished product is always more than the sum of its parts; it’s a work of art that’s fun beautiful, and bespoke. We use these materials so that we can keep costs down, and translate that to wholesales and consumers.”
Because ADORN USA uses cost-effective materials, pieces start at $50 and go up to about $300. According to Aranzamendez, offering handcrafted designer jewelry at those prices is atypical. “I wanted all pieces offered by ADORN USA to retain a sense of accessibility,” she adds. “When you see the pieces online, you know you’re getting more than what you pay for handmade art and fashion.”
Aranzamendez says they had to turn several designers away because their pieces were too expensive. “I want people to feel beautiful, and I want them to walk away with a variety of pieces that can speak to their lifestyle each and every day of the year,” Aranzamendez explains.
Since ADORN USA’s launch, Aranzamendez is looking to now building the brand. “We have been selected by Y’vette Fry Inc. in NYC promoting and selling our products at the East Coast Market. Y’vette Fry Inc. amongst others represents Otazu, Tai, and Wendi Mink,” Aranzamendez says. “The first tradeshow in which ADORN USA will participate is coming up in November. Right now we’re developing an online platform that caters specifically to retail shoppers, so expect to see that soon. Soon you will be able to purchase our pieces in your favorite boutiques in the Tri-State area.”
Currently, you can only place orders online for ADORN USA products. However, in the near future, boutiques in the Cincinnati area will begin stocking ADORN USA and featuring the fall and winter collections at trunk shows. As for Aranzamendez’s future plans, she hopes to see ADORN USA’s jewelry flourish in boutiques throughout the United States and Canada and eventually makes its way to prime department stores such as Barneys, Bendels, and Nordstrom. “Ultimately, so long as we’re enhancing the lives of others through our craft, we’ll be happy,” Aranzamendez says.
