The Fashion Up Boutique is a cozy little nook filled with fabulous items to perk up your wardrobe and home.
The shop is located at 4316 Mt. Carmel-Tobasco Rd in Union Township, one minute from Beechmont Ave. Owner Karmen Singleton is from the area and was intrigued at the idea of opening a boutique.
“My friends love to shop consignment. So, I thought it would be neat to open my own,” explains Singleton. “We sell new and consigned clothing from sizes 0-5x to cater to all needs. This boutique is just what this area needed.”
The opening day was on Saturday July 6, and Singleton says word traveled fast. According to her, just days after opening, there were people lined up outside the door ready to shop and consign.
“My little boutique is small, but the first week was very successful,” says Singleton. “The local community is quite excited to have a boutique and news is spreading.”
The name of the store, Fashion Up, originated from Singleton’s goal to provide fashion for all women from petite to plus size. “The ‘Up’ represents how far we go up in size,” she explains. “I strive to carry nice clothing with a variety of looks to help customers step outside the box.”
Singleton says her sales background in custom furniture and love for fashion are reflected in every element from the visual displays to the vintage pieces that decorate the boutique. The boutique also has a contemporary decor area with home accents and decorating pieces such as custom furniture, vases, table ware, paintings, picture frames and rugs.
Though small, the boutique has plenty of products to choose from. While shopping, Singleton says you will find a creative assortment of new women’s fashion with names, such as White House Black Market, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor Loft, Liz Claiborne, New York and Company, Chico’s, and Talbot’s.
Gently used brand-named consignment fashions (size 0-5X) and decor are accepted with no fee to open a consignment account, and a pay-out of 50%. Singleton says you can schedule an appointment by calling 937-205-1137. Store hours are Tuesday through Friday 11a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday’s 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and closed Sunday-Monday.
