New Lingerie Shop Opens in Oxford

Elle McPhersen and Betsey Johnson — among many other luxury lingerie designers — now call Oxford home. That’s because Hush Intimate Apparel Boutique opened its doors October 2013 to offer a wide range of women the perfect “something special.”

Local lady, Anna-Marie Martinez, was inspired to open a fine lingerie boutique based on the lingerie boutiques she visited during her travels. “I felt Oxford held the kind of charm that you would expect to come to and find unique and special shopping experiences,” Martinez explains. “I wanted to introduce a finer lingerie to the young girls who are used to buying their lingerie at the mall and helping them get the correct fitting bra.”

Martinez, who has a background in marketing and business to business sales, says she has always worked hard to achieve her goals and always thought she would like to work for herself. 

With that in mind, Martinez has placed a strong focus on promoting the comfortable and exciting atmosphere Hush has to offer women of all ages. The intimate boutique offers a large selection of bras, panties, robes, pajamas, camisoles, babydolls and chemises from basic everyday styles to special occasion pieces in up to a “G” cup.

Hush also offers lotions, candles and bathing products. Hush carries several designers such as Cosabella, Betsey Johnson, Eberjey, Affinitas, Fleurt, LeMystere, Spanx and Hanky Panky. “I chose these brands based on the quality, design and price point,” Martinez says. Hush products range between $32 and $90; certain special products go up $180.

Though Hush has only been opened for a short period of time, the feedback from clients has been very positive, Martinez says. “They all love the fact that they no longer have to drive an hour to the mall to get such beautiful lingerie or they do not have to order online and pay shipping and they can try it on to get the right fit,” she adds. “It has been a big convenience to everyone.”

According to Martinez, what sets Hush apart from other lingerie destinations in addition to its convenience is that it offers such a beautiful environment where women feel as though they are indulging on themselves even if they are only buying a basic, everyday bra.

Martinez looks forward to some of her new products coming in such as Royal Appothic and Kamasutra, but also hopes that local women as well as women in the surrounding areas will want and look forward to coming to her store to see what is new and exciting in the world of lingerie. “I would like to see Hush Intimate Apparel in several college towns in the future,” she says. Martinez will be hosting a Valentine’s Day event with local wine bar, CRU in Oxford.
