2014 Summerfair Cincinnati

A look from a previous Summerfair LBD fashion show

What started as a small group of Mt. Adams residents in 1968 holding an arts festival to salute the opening of the new Playhouse in the Park is now a massive organization of volunteers and staff who work year-round supporting and promoting artists and the arts in Greater Cincinnati.

The organization’s activities include: supports for individual artists including awards and exhibitions; community-based art activities and events; and a nationally-recognized annual fine arts fair, drawing more than 20,000 art enthusiasts to see and purchase the works of artists from across the United States and Canada.

This year’s fair, which will be the 47th year of the event, takes place May 30-June 1. Artists apply to exhibit their art at the fair in 10 categories including photography, painting, wood, ceramics, fibers, leather, jewelry and 2D/3D mixed media. It takes place at Cincinnati’s historic Coney Island and feature more than 300 fine artists and craftspeople from around the country as well as regional performers, a variety of gourmet arts, and the “Youth Arts Rocks!” area for kids.

New this year, enjoy “Summerfair After Hours” concert on the Acoustic Stage, featuring urban folk artist, Jen Chapin – from 8 – 10pm. The cost of this new concert is included in the price of a Saturday ticket! Tickets can be purchased for $10 CASH ONLY at the gate with children 12 and under admitted free. “Summerfair is the official kick-off to summer in the Tri-State” said Colette and Jeff Martin, 2014 Co-Fair Chairs. “At the fair, art patrons will get the chance to experience the summer weather at beautiful Coney Island, visit with their favorite artists, enjoy delicious food from gourmet arts and listen to the musical stylings of some of the regions greatest performers.”

On the first night of the fair, May 30, Summerfair Cincinnati and Cincy Chic join forces for the 4th annual Little Black Dress event; a fabulous fashion show with proceeds benefiting Summerfair Cincinnat’s award, scholarship and exhibition programs for local artists and arts organizations.

Wear your favorite LBD, slip on some sassy shoes, arrive between 7-8pm and shop Summerfair artists’ booths, sip on a cocktail, snap fun pics in the Audrey-inspired photobooth and enjoy a fashion show featuring LBDs from all your favorite local boutiques paired with one-of-a-kind jewelry, scarves, hats and bags created by Summerfair Artist Exhibitors. After the show, dance the night away at our after party as the DJ heats up the dance floor. Tickets are $15/person. All attendees will enjoy a seat along the runway and a swag bag.
