    Joseph-Beth Booksellers
is celebrating this fall with a multitude of themed events, with something on the schedule for each member of the family, says Annette Meurer, marketing and public relations manager. Throughout the months of October and November, the Cincinnati location – situated at Rookwood Commons – has a full agenda of signings, parties and events.

    For the family
Joseph-Beth is teaming up with Parky’s Farm to bring Cincinnati Halloween Nights. The event taking place throughout the month of October will feature a fun house, hay rides, souvenirs and an obstacle course, among other fun activities for the kids. "It’s a great way for families to come out and enjoy the Halloween season together," Meurer says.

On October 7 Joseph-Beth is hosting a special Halloween story time for kids to enjoy, too. "Parky’s Farm naturalist, Tess Jaeger, is going to be bringing in some nocturnal creatures, like owls, to give the story time a kid-friendly, spooky feel," she says.

Additionally, at the end of October, the Cincinnati location will be featuring more than 200 kids in a holiday-themed musical recital while shoppers mill around the store. This event is sponsored by the Ohio Music Teachers Association. "While people walk around and shop, they get to listen to the recital," Meurer says. "It’s also great because when the families shop, part of the proceeds of their purchases go back to the Ohio Music Teachers Association."

    For the thrill-seekers
Local author of spooky poetry Ryan Mecum will be at the store on October 17 for book signings and discussion of his new book, Dawn of Zombie Haiku. "Ryan is a friend of a lot of the booksellers, and we love when he books events with us," she says.

If that doesn’t quench Cincinnati’s thirst for the creepy, Joseph-Beth will host local author Jane Congdon, writer of It Started With Dracula, on October 27. Congdon’s book is an unconventional Halloween novel, Meurer says. "It’s kind of a weird, funny memoir about [Congdon’s] mother, who was obsessed with Dracula," she says. To keep with that theme, the store will be bringing in Hoxworth Blood Center for a blood drive on the same day.

    For the musically-inclined
For lovers of the theater, Joseph-Beth will bring in local Beauty and the Beast cast members for story time and a few songs this Wednesday, September 28. This event is geared towards kids and will include some crafts.

To promote his latest and final installation of the acclaimed Wicked series, Gregory Maguire will visit the Cincinnati store on November 16. Maguire will discuss and sign copies of Out of Oz: The Final Volume in the Wicked Years and will be joined by special guests from the cast of Wicked, which will be at the Aronoff Center from November 2 to 26.

    For everyone
A birthday is nothing without a party, and Joseph-Beth will celebrate 25 in style, Meurer says. On October 13 the store will close early for a party for Gives Back members and community partners. "It will be very nice. We’ll have cocktails and appetizers, and it will be a great way for everyone to get together," Meurer says.

The general public is invited to Joseph-Beth’s 25th Anniversary sale on October 15, among other promotions. "We’re going to have some sweepstakes packages," she says. "Twenty-five winners will get books of their choice. It’s going to be a lot of fun."
