Get the Scoop with LocalView
Now that Spring is finally here, it’s time to get out and explore the city! Making it easier than ever to do just that is the recently launched LocalView Cincinnati.
Uncovering the things that make a city great is the inspiration behind the concept, says LocalView co-founder Jon Matar. “The idea was created when my team and I noticed an appetite among consumers for discovering what was going on around them, aside from popular attractions and well-known hotspots,” he explains.
The business – launched in Louisville, Ky., in December 2013 – serves as a website that offers a comprehensive guide to dining, entertainment and community happenings in the city for those who already live there or visitors looking to go on an adventure. It was so successful in Louisville, Matar and his team decided to start launching in other cities.
“In just a little more than two years, the startup has gone from working out of a living room to a full-time staff that reaches its audience more than 1 million times each month,” Matar says.
Thanks to its impressive traction in Louisville, Matar says LocalView is beginning its soft launch in Cincinnati today, April 7. While the website is just getting up and running, you can expect to see if evolve significantly over the course of the next 60 days as the team learns more about what’s going on in Cincinnati, builds relationships with businesses in the city and receives feedback on what its audience wants to see and read.
“You’ll find things on the site such as exciting things to do in the summer or trivia about historic landmarks you’ve always known existed but didn’t know much about,” Matar says, adding that he chose Cincinnati as the next location to cover because of its culture- and experience-rich city.
“We’re really excited to help people find out what makes Cincinnati so great,” he explains. “We’ve also formed relationships with members of the business community in the city and we look forward to bringing LocalView to the city.”
When you visit the LocalView website, you’ll get to check out a digital guide to entertainment in the Queen City. There, you’ll find everything from articles describing where to eat if you’re in the mood for a particular food to an events calendar so you can always find something fun to do, no matter what the occasion. “Our goal is to make it simple to find events and articles that you find interesting,” Matar says.
Aside from LocalView’s launch in Cincinnati, Matar says there are several exciting new developments planned for the future while maintaining what it is their users want. “The relationships LocalView has and builds with Cincinnati businesses will lead to new promotion that will help Cincinnatians explore the city,” he explains.
Matar encourages readers of the LocalView site to offer suggestions and feedback by emailing support@localview.co. He adds that any direction on the content you find valuable, comments on site design or any other feedback is welcomed.
