Mother’s Day in Cincinnati!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Have you planned something special for that leading lady in your life? Or are you the take-charge mom who wants to plan her own big day? Either way, the team at Cincy Chic curated a list of the best things to do around the city this Mother’s Day!

Outdoor Adventures
The Cincinnati Reds take on the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, May 10. This is the perfect chance for you to take your sports-loving mom out for a cold one at the ball game! Mother’s Day packages at Great American Ball Park are $75 each. They include four seats of your choice in the Sun & Moon Deck, Terrace Line, View Level Box or Mezzanine. The package also comes with four wristbands for the Pregame Parade on the warning track. If the tickets sell out before you can get them, individuals seats are still available for the game!

Families with little ones will love taking the day not only for mom, but to see the animals at the Cincinnati Zoo. Mother’s are admitted free to zoo on Mother’s Day. Moms will get no better joy than watching their children or grandchildren run around the zoo having the time of their life, so why not take a day to celebrate mom with the zoo’s animal moms too?

The newest attraction on the Riverfront is opening May 9, just in time for Mother’s Day. The Grow Up Great Adventure Playground is an innovative, fully accessible playground next to the Roebling Suspension Bridge. Moms can watch little ones frolic on the playground, climb a rock climbing canyon, play on log climbs, go down twin racing slides, take the ultimate test of balance across a rope bridge, relax with a picnic in the granite seating amphitheater and cool off under the fog mist.

Brunch With Mom
BB Riverboats is selling seats for a Mother’s Day Cruise. Brunch will be served from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mom will enjoy breathtaking views of the city skyline as well as delicious food and a souvenir photo to remember the day by. Those interested in attending brunch or dinner on the boat will pay $43 for adults and $22 for children.

Head over to Winton Woods for Mother’s Day Brunch in the Park. This is the perfect event if you want to enjoy the beautiful outdoors while celebrating the mom or grandma in your life. There’s a tasty buffet that’s sure to satisfy every taste bud. The menu includes carved dry-aged prime rib, smoked Virginia ham, scrambled eggs, Belgian waffles and French toast to name a few of the delicious items available. Check out the buffet at 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m (the noon brunch is sold out). Advanced registration is required and the buffet is $16.95 for adults and $8 for those between the ages of 2 and 12 (tax not included).

Artistic Endeavors
For the theatre-loving families, check out 2nd Sunday Family Showtime at Playhouse in the Park. Doors for the play, about a kindhearted woodcutter who discovers a nest of freezing birds and decides to give them a new home, open at 1:00 p.m., with the performance beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children up to age 12.

If you want to see great art, check out the Cincinnati Art Museum for the “Family ARTventures” exhibit. There are multiple tours on May 10, with free admission. The tour on Mother’s Day is an interactive art cart that boasts hands-on activities for the whole family. The Mother’s Day stop is the Ceramic Art Cart.

The 46th Annual Appalachian Festival is back at Coney Island Mother’s Day weekend. The festival is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. General admission (adults ages 12 and up) is $10, Senior Citizens are $5, children 4-11 are $2 and children 4 and under are free. Parking for the festival is $6. Special guests at the festival include The Wayfarers, Rick Elliott, P’s in a Pod, Nightflyer, Hannah Sue Cooper and Omope Carter Daboiku.
