Learn about the local lady who launched an online lifestyle boutique with monthly pop-up shops in OTR that features curated fashion collections as well as home decor — all at prices that’ll have your wardrobe, home and your budget on point.
Yvonne Ballard loves fashion and interior design. She didn’t like shopping in different places to get them, though. So, she set out to change that.
Enter, NOVE home&body decor, her recently-launched online lifestyle boutique of home decor and curated fashion collections for men and women.
“After receiving my Associate’s Degree for Interior Design, I found that it opened an avenue for me to unleash my craft,” explains Ballard. “I worked as a regional visual director for eight years prior to establishing NOVE in 2013. I never found a job where I had the freedom to combine my love for fashion and interior decor, and NOVE was born because of just that.”
Ballard says that NOVE is E-V-O-N backwards and means lucky No. 9. She adds that she was inspired to open the fashion and lifestyle boutique from that passion she’s had since childhood to add special elements to create a fashionable look.
NOVE is a special kind of store. It combines home decor and fashion, with a designer touch behind each brand. According to Ballard, each item she carries has special textures and designer details.
The online store, http://novedecor.com which is run by Ballard with the support of her husband and teenage children, offers interior design and styling services, plus a featured artist spot for creatives to showcase their talents. She also hosts a pop-up shop in OTR every second weekend of the month at 1329 Vine St.
Clothing sizes at NOVE range from XS-3XL. Accessories and decor are listed at prices to fit any budget and start at $9.90 and up. “We have categorized collections to meet your unique style,” says Ballard. These collections include The 9th Avenue Collection featuring day wear and city style, The Noir Collection featuring modern black styles, The Cabaret Collection for bold party fashion, and The Free Spirit Collection featuring boho chic and casual accents.
Ballard says that NOVE will soon be established on paper as a family brand, as her family serves as key components to the team.
Thanks to the help she receives from her family and the growth she’s seen thus far, Ballard says that she hopes to get funding to expand the store’s current selection and also establish a brick and mortar location in Over-the-Rhine, Walnut Hills, Clifton, or Pleasant Ridge.
