The festival features hay rides to the pumpkin patch, pie -eating contests and live entertainment provided by local bands. Watch as people take part in games such as seed-spitting, log-sawing and greased-pole-climbing. Shaw Farms Fall Festival
    Shaw Farms
, located in Milford, offers a fun fall festival that runs from the last week of September to the last day of October. Although the farm can still be visited during the week, it’s the weekends when the real fun happens. Enjoy scenic tractor or horse-drawn hayrides, kicking up your heels to the sounds of bluegrass performed by Appalachian Highway in the old barn, learning about farm animals or noshing on family recipe pork sandwich.

The main attraction is grabbing a partner and navigating your way through the Shaw family’s 20-acre corn maze. Patrons can bring a group and break off into teams and race to see which team makes it through the incredible maze first. Shaw Farms can be found at 1737 State Route 131 in Milford and offers free parking and admission for a great time on a budget.

    The Dent Schoolhouse
If you’re itching for the scare of the season, The Dent Schoolhouse is where you’ll find it. Touted as one of Cincinnati’s best Halloween attractions, this haunted schoolhouse has earned spots on the Top 13 list for Best Haunts in America and Top 13 list for the scariest places to have a haunted attraction as voted on HauntWorld.com.

Legend has it that Dent was a real public school that opened in Cincinnati in 1894. Starting in 1942 and every couple years following, local children began vanishing, and in 1952 a strange odor began seeping through the floorboards from the basement. Charlie, the janitor, brushed off foul odor as the smell of the pipes clogging, then in 1955 seven children went missing as a strong stench filtered throughout the schoolhouse, causing a mob to break into the basement with the gruesome discovery of the murdered children. Charlie was the main suspect, but was nowhere to be found. It is said that he and the children still lurk the halls of the schoolhouse today.

Dent Schoolhouse is one of the most detailed and longest haunted attractions in the area, clocking in with tours between 25 and 35 minutes long. Each year the attraction undergoes changes, adding new sets, technology and animatronics. This year owners have added the Detention Hall, which is located behind the schoolhouse and entrance is included in the price of admission. "Prepare for a heart throbbing, adrenaline-pumping chase! Darkness and confusion are just two of the many things you will find at Detention Hall!" says The Dent Schoolhouse website.
