Read about a local florist who’s choosing to celebrate through isolation with dried arrangements that can be shipped or delivered straight to your home.

Cincy Chic: What is Eve Floral Co?
Evelyn Streeter, Founder of Eve Floral Co.: Cincinnati’s celebration florist. An intentional studio providing flower designs for experiences sourcing romantic flowers locally, seasonally and naturally.

Cincy Chic: What’s the inspiration behind it?
Streeter: The heart behind the brand comes from a long line of family florists. I am a third generation designer learning from their styles and evolving it into my own. I grew up in a home set above my mother’s flower shop in the Michigan countryside. We had a small greenhouse, many animals, and a lot of love for our community.

Cincy Chic: Who’s behind it?
Streeter: I’m Evelyn- a tiny, but mighty one-woman show (most of the time). I wear all the hats in this business from designing and making every arrangement that goes out the door to building our website, to hand-writing a personalized thank you card to each customer that supports this little operation. I live and work out of a small studio near Eden Park with my pup Bruce and when I’m not flowering you can find me drumming up some new recipes in the kitchen, connecting with nature and mentoring fellow flower lovers.

I am passionate about flowers beyond description. My professional and personal life blend together and are centered around flowers. Some of my best friends are florists. I routinely talk about flowers to others and read flower books, listen to flower podcasts and floral magazines in my spare time. I travel to regions on vacation where flower farms are plentiful and introduce myself to other florists in the region to promote our strong community and network.

Cincy Chic: What makes Eve Floral Co unique?
Streeter: I am very intentional about the flowers I use sourcing locally and seasonally from farms. So much time and planning goes into a flower. Nurturing from seed all the way into a vase and onto your tables. I love anything flower-related and passionate not just about the varieties, but also educating our community. This drove me down the path to becoming an ambassador for both. A mentor for fellow flower lovers and an advocate for my customers. Our arrangements evoke feelings, not just varieties placed together where you can consume it all visually-almost ephemerally.

Because I don’t have a retail shop (brick and mortar space) it doesn’t tie me to one place. I’m able to reach different cultures and communicate with people through flowers in their settings and spaces. It’s important to me to keep the business small and intentional in these ways because it ensures that I maintain a level of quality. I like having a hand in everything because the customer is choosing me, not some huge corporation with production lines.

Cincy Chic: How are you handling COVID-19?
Streeter: Personally I am trying to take it one day at a time and take that time to step back and focus on the things that bring me the most joy. I have adapted that into my work practices as well coming up with new, creative approaches to what flowers mean to people- especially in a time with so much uncertainty. I have been so grateful for our community and the level of support I have received in such a short time. It’s remarkable how much Cincinnati has welcomed me and shown love to this Michigander!

Cincy Chic: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Streeter: Since many things have been postponed I have been trying to focus on getting more flowers into people’s hands and homes. I just started offering a Dried Flower Shop online where you can order an everlasting dried flower bouquet and have it either delivered or shipped to your door.

Mother’s Day holds a very special place in my heart as I owe my love for this business to my mother Gina, therefore this year I am collaborating with another local business to offer a fresh flower arrangement gift box delivered to our customer’s doorstep. All of the flowers will be directly sourced and grown from an Ohio flower farm so customer’s will be supporting three local businesses by purchasing one of our gift boxes. Stay tuned for more info coming at the end of April!
