With the stress of planning a wedding, it’s a little too easy to add those stress-induced pre-wedding pounds. Luckily, with the help of dietitian/nutritionist Jennifer Beck, losing weight and gaining energy is as easy as (wedding) cake.
Weight loss can be an intimidating (and, often times, consuming) process, but speaking from experience, Beck knows the tricks to losing weight and feeling healthy.
"Make sure you take care of you, as you are taking care of planning," Beck says. It is essential to your health that you don’t neglect the key nutrients and exercise your body needs to feel energized. Check out Beck’s four top tips to shedding weight as you plan, organize and prepare.
1. Eat five small meals throughout the day, and never skip a meal.
"When you don’t eat breakfast your body is not breaking down fat," Beck says. "Your body goes into starvation mode and stores all the calories." Within an hour of waking up, it’s important to grab a bite. Coffee and cereal won’t do it. Instead try an egg for protein and fruit for a carbohydrate.
2. While many people confuse hunger for thirst, drinking more water is key!
Not only does water keep you hydrated, but it will help keep your skin clear for the wedding day. It is important to drink one-half of your body weight in ounces of water every day, which will help with weight loss.
As Beck explains, if you weigh 150 pounds, you should consume 75 ounces of water every day. That’s nearly 10 8-ounce cups of water. For those who need to spice it up, drink sparkling water with natural fruits and stevia. By combining water with a natural sweetener and fruit, drinking water won’t feel like a drag.
3. Turn to Symmetry.
As an experienced nutritionist for 11 years, Beck found that Symmetry’s Diet Magic was truly the magical touch to weight loss success. From dark chocolate to help with emotional eating to an appetite suppressant to an energy blend that keeps you going on the busiest days, Diet Magic uniquely deals with every reason someone gains weight. However, a good weight loss program would be lost without the power of a multivitamin.
"Studies have shown that if you are deficient in getting one nutrient, your body can hold up to 40 [extra] pounds," Beck says. Symmetry’s powder multivitamin, Ultravitality, can be mixed into water to give your body all 90 nutrients it needs on a daily basis.
4. Exercise and healthy habits are the essence of any weight loss program.
Between ordering the wedding cake and writing out invitations, you should get a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes of exercise two times a day. Physical activity keeps your metabolism going, so short, frequent exercises will help you lose weight more effectively in the long run than long, less frequent workouts.
Getting in the mindset of working out is half the battle. With easy workouts, such as squats at your desk or lunges across the room, exercise doesn’t have to be a challenge.
Before you say, "I do" to your special someone, remember the importance of saying, "I do" to a healthier lifestyle.
