Learn more about this local chiropractor who specializes in treating infants and pregnant women while giving special attention to disorders that are often just treated with medications.
Dr. Stephanie Spiers, who is a parent to three children, was blown away by the rising rates of autism and increasing number of children who are put on medications to treat ADHD/ADD. She says it concerns her for her kids’ generation as well as generations to come.
“Ultimately, these conditions rob children of expressing their full potential,” explains Spiers. “They also create immeasurable stress and financial burden on parents. It is my absolute passion to provide a path for children and their families to experience abundant health, and live a life of purpose, passion and vitality.”
So, as a doctor, she wanted to do something to help. It was these drugs, as well as medications for diseases such as type 2 diabetes, asthma, allergies, digestive disorders and other conditions, that inspired her to open Bright Futures Family Chiropractic, a family chiropractic offers with a prenatal and pediatric specialty, in February 2015.
“Our office is dramatically different than many traditional chiropractic offices,” Spiers explains. “What sets us apart is our dedication and commitment to serving people of all ages with difficult and complex conditions who have been unable to find solutions elsewhere, and many who have lost hope.”
Spiers has an extensive background and ongoing training in the care of children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD/ADD and Autism, as well as children and adults with chronic health issues such as allergies, asthma, headaches, digestive disorders, traumatic brain injuries, multiple sclerosis and cancer.
“We believe everyone, regardless of their current health condition, deserves a Bright Future and it is our mission to empower and inspire as many families as possible to live their best life,” says Spiers.
Aside from Certified Pediatric Chiropractor Spiers, her husband Brad helps her own and operate Bright Futures. She says that you’ll also frequently find one or both of her daughters “working” behind the front desk helping office coordinator Caitlin.
When asked what makes Bright Futures unique, Spiers says it’s her practice of using a unique set of techniques that is unlike any other chiropractor in the area. “In addition to traditional chiropractic techniques, I am the only chiropractor in Cincinnati to have earned Elite Master status in a very specific neurological technique called Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.), which is a brain-based therapy helpful with anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD and other neurological disorders,” she explains.
While there’s a lot Spiers provides as far as care for her patients, she says that the heart of the practice is really about chiropractic adjustment. “We provide safe and gentle adjustments with the focus on improving nervous system function,” she says.
Spiers is trained and experienced in the proper care of newborns, children and pregnant women, and as a mom of 3, is very sensitive to their unique needs.
Bright Futures also utilizes technology that can measure nervous system function as well as show progress as a patient moves through the care plan. “We also incorporate coaching, guidance and inspiration on living a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition, exercise and stress management,” says Spiers.
Spiers says that Bright Futures will be launching its signature series of public workshops title “The Perfect Storm: uncovering the hidden cause behind ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism and other chronic health conditions in children” on Feb. 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It will continue through the year.
The Perfect Storm event will be held at the Blue Ash Recreation Center. Spiers says it is free to attend but guests must RSVP to reserve a seat, as they are limited. You can call the Bright Futures office at 513-792-9111 to save your spot!
Bright Futures is located in the heart of Blue Ash off Ronald Reagan Highway at 9402 Towne Square Avenue, Suite E, in Cincinnati.
