Brain Calkins launched Adventure Bootcamp for Women Cincinnati in 2007

In a fun, supportive, and inspirational setting, you and your family can learn the building blocks of a healthier and happier lifestyle. That’s the idea behind Brian Calkins’ HealthStyle Fitness personal training and coaching programs.

HealthStyle Fitness has two options: Essentials Group Fitness and Customized Group Training. Both programs come with a consultation with their program design specialist, the health and fitness analysis and functional movement screen – all of which are conducted to determine the unique design your fitness program. With your program in place, the HealthStyle Fitness training system delivers exercise and nutrition science.

The cost of these programs range from $147-397 a month, and timeframes range from three month to annual commitments. Calkins works with a variety of ages – from young children to retirees – and all fitness levels.

In addition, Calkins also runs Cincinnati Adventure Boot Camp for Women, which he began in 2007. Since then, the program has grown to five locations in Cincinnati, Anderson, Blue Ash, Bridgetown, Norwood and Oakley.

According to Adventure Boot Camp Trainer, Jennifer Defendiefer, Calkins’ mission is to simply empower individuals to take control of their health and fitness and be the very best they can be. “We provide the structure, accountability, support and resources that have allowed thousands of women to reach their fitness goals safely and sustainably,” Defendiefer says.

Adventure Boot Camp for Women offers early morning sessions Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and the Norwood location offers an after work option from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $299 for a 4 week session, which includes 20 1 hour workouts, pre and post camp assessment, a nutrition workshop, a t-shirt, a dietician approved meal plan and unlimited support and guidance. A $219 three-day-per-week program is also available.

“During each session we provide structured and proven workout methodology with highly organized execution,” Defendiefer says. “We combine a wide variety of strength and conditioning activities to create lasting health and fitness enhancement. Nutrition is broken down into simple and sustainable steps.”

What makes their boot camp different from other fitness boot camps? According to Defendiefer it’s simply because their programs appeal to a variety of individuals, regardless of their current fitness level or circumstances.

“Brian has a warm and friendly approach and is passionate about helping women succeed and reach their fullest potential. His unique style has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and he is constantly striving to ensure that his program offers a personalized approach to each and every member,” Defendiefer explains. “Each workout is designed to provide maximum results in the shortest amount of time and is high energy and fun. Our customers keep coming back not only because they have achieved amazing results in Adventure Boot Camp but because of the unparalleled customer support, educational resources, fun workouts and variety they experience every morning in camp.”

According to Defendiefer, their average boot camp participant loses between 8 to 12 pounds and a 3 to 4% reduction in body fat percentage in a 4-week session. “They love the results they get in the program as well as the environment. Adventure Boot Camp is far more than just a workout we are trusted in helping women achieve a healthy mind, body and spirit,” Defendiefer says. “Women cannot believe how fast their results happen, and that they actually enjoy and look forward to getting up and working out each day.”

Defendiefer particularly feels that Adventure Boot Camp reaches out to the working moms across Cincinnati and enables them a chance to invest in themselves. “Working moms often put themselves last on the priority list so our early morning workout hour is perfect for most Moms. They can get their workout in and done before the rest of the world needs them,” Defendiefer says. “They just need to roll out of bed and come to camp because we give them everything they need and by the end of the hour they’re feeling on top of the world.”
