Off the Vine is Cincinnati’s first cold pressed juice bar.

Life long Cincinnatian and self-proclaimed health nut Cydney Rabe and her family have been calling Over the Rhine (OTR) home since 2008. Rabe opened her OTR-based pilates and fitness studio Core Movement in 2012.

It was this venture that uncovered a unique need for Rabe. “My inspiration to open Off The Vine came mostly from a personal passion and need. I was looking for quick healthy options to keep me going throughout the day with my busy teaching schedule, and felt there was a gap in the Cincinnati market for quick healthy options,” Rabe says.

This led Rabe to open Cincinnati’s first cold pressed juice bar, Off The Vine, in November 2014. Being the first meant that Rabe poured a lot of energy into educating customers about the process and benefits of fresh, cold pressed juice, something she had incorporated into her health regimen years prior. “Public response has been great. There is a lot of education that goes with being Cincinnati’s first cold pressed juice bar. It is a new idea to people and explaining all of the benefits that come in just one bottle of our juice really amazes people. I love seeing a first time juicer try our juices, especially some of the greens and roots juices. They [customers] are always so surprised by how good they taste,” Rabe says.

First time juicers are exactly what makes Off the Vine a unique venture. Rabe explains that “one of the things that Off The Vine really strives for is to create a comfortable experience for the first time juicer to come in and not feel intimidated by the idea of juicing. We offer juice flights so you can sample eight different juices to find out what you like.”

The juice menu is divided between green vegetable options that are paired with things like lemon and ginger, citrus juices which are fruit-based and paired with vegetables, honey and turmeric and root juices that largely contain root vegetables such as beets and carrots.

Rabe says their most popular product is Glow; a carrot, apple, pineapple, lemon and ginger combination that brightens skin, reduces inflammation and lends to hair and nail health. For those who are passionate about recycling and looking for a way to cut costs, Rabe says they have a bottle buy-back program. “All of our juice is served in glass bottles, which you can bring back to the juice bar for a discount on your next juice,” she adds.

In addition to cold pressed juice, Off The Vine also offers a unique variety of healthy food options that are perfectly paired with their drinks. Customers can order anything from the Mango Matcha Bowl to the Herb Out Salad. Seasonal raw shakes and house made nut milks are available as well.

Off The Vine cold pressed juice cleanse is a popular offering that starts at $55 and includes five 16 oz juices and one nut milk. Since their juice life is three days any cleanse that extends beyond that time involves multiple pickup or home deliveries, which Off The Vine offers. According to Rabe there are multiple benefits to a juice cleanse. “ [A] kick start to make more healthy decisions, losing that feeling of being bloated, gives you tons of energy, makes your skin glow, helps eliminate toxins and purifies the body,” Rabe says. “Clients are generally surprised by how much energy they have while they are cleansing and post cleanse.”

Off The Vine also offers catering, corporate wellness programs and parties in their juice bar (think bachelorette). Right now Off The Vine juice is only offered at their stores but they have a juice truck that will be making trips this summer to events and farmers markets.

Off The Vine is located in Over The Rhine at 1218 Vine Street with a second location that just opened in the At580 building downtown, located at 580 Walnut Street.
