Cincy Chic: Sum up your career's journey in five sentences or less.
Alison Copley: I was born in and have always lived in Cincinnati. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with my Bachelor degree in Middle Childhood Education. I married in May of 2005 (my husband is from northern Ohio). Instead of seeking out a teaching job when the job market wasn't so good for teachers, I took a job as an Administrative Assistant/Project Coordinator position at the office my husband was working in at the time. I worked up until a week before my son was born. He is now 15 months old. I became a consultant with Creative Memories last fall, and Tastefully Simple in January 2007. I enjoy the rewards of being a consultant for both companies. I became involved with direct sales so that I could continue to be a stay-at-home mom.

Cincy Chic: What is Tastefully Simple, and what's interesting about it?
Copley: Tastefully Simple is a food company that was founded in Minnesota more than 10 years ago. Our products are very easy-to-prepare and enjoy. You only have to add one or two basic ingredients, such as water or butter, or it comes in a container ready to enjoy. We promote a simplified lifestyle through convenient and unique gourmet products and an enriching business opportunity. Our products are marketed primarily through home taste-testing parties. As a consultant, I can offer my clients samples, recipes, easy meal ideas and lots of fun! Our best selling product is probably our Bountiful Beer Bread. More than 2 million were sold in 2006. We also sell drinks, dips, blends, sauces and desserts. Our Truffle Fudge Brownie Mix is a must-try! We sell collections and gift packs, so our product is great in your pantry or as a gift for someone else.

Cincy Chic: How/why did you become a consultant with Tastefully Simple?
Copley: I became a consultant with Tastefully Simple due to the encouragement of my husband. He has been a great supporter of my businesses. He helps keeps me organized, and gives me ideas. For example, I credit him for my first business gift sale. He made me a list of companies to contact to see if they needed any gifts for clients. Of the companies I called on his list, I made one great sale of over $1,000! Tastefully Simple is an easy business to maintain as a stay-at-home mom. I can do as many taste-testing parties as I want in a week or month, the product ships directly to the client so I do not have to keep a large inventory, I receive a commission for my sales, and I can earn rewards and getaways if I meet incentives. I hope to grow my business and my income by building a team.

Cincy Chic: What's your favorite Tastefully Simple recipe?
Copley: My favorite recipe of those that I have tried so far would be for Chicken with Dried Tomato and Garlic Pasta. It calls for our Dried Tomato and Garlic Pesto Mix, chicken, diced tomatoes, penne pasta and cheese. To make it a complete meal, serve with a Caesar Salad and Cheesy Mushroom Bread (another TS recipe). The Dried Tomato and Garlic Pesto makes your kitchen smell heavenly! It requires adding water and olive oil. It takes just one minute in the microwave to heat.

Cincy Chic:
And what Cincinnati specialty food could you not live without?
Copley: Because I am from Cincinnati, my answer would have to be LaRosas! I have loved it since I was a kid. My mom always said I would work there one day. I did for one summer in college as a hostess. The night that my water broke (Mothers Day 2006, and coincidentally, my first wedding anniversary), I had LaRosas pizza for dinner. I also enjoy their calzones. My favorite toppings are mushrooms and red onion.
