Staying Fit with Friends
Everyone likes to kill two birds with one stone (just not literally). So why not spend some quality time with your friends while staying fit and healthy? Here are some classes and programs you can check out.

A Laughter Yoga Experience
Laughter’s the best medicine, so drop that measuring spoon and take a dose of laughter yoga. This $10 monthly class is offered to members and nonmembers alike, and it combines laughter exercises and yoga breathing to give you the health benefits of hearty laughter, according to the Web site. Move-n-Groove
It may take two to tango, but you can Move-n-Groove with even more. This dance aerobics class lets you let loose while staying fit. TriHealth members can get into their groove for free, and nonmembers can pay $120 for 10 classes or $15 for a trial class. Mercy HealthPlex
This trio of health centers has locations in Anderson, Fairfield and Western Hills.
Group Personal Training
All three locations offer Group Personal Training sessions where you can have individualized attention with the support of friends or family. For an eight pack of sessions, members pay $216 per person for partner training and $160 per person when the group is from three to six participants. Nonmembers pay $256 for partners and $180 for groups of three to six.
Basketball and Volleyball Leagues
Anderson and Fairfield also offer basketball league opportunities. You can start shooting hoops with the Anderson league Oct. 1. Teams play four-on-four every Wednesday (ages 45 and over) and Thursday (ages 18 and over). You have to pay before your play, but for a nine week league, fees are reasonable. Teams are $400 for members and $520 for nonmembers. If you don’t have a whole team, individuals only pay $75 for members and $90 for nonmembers.
Fairfield’s league starts Sept. 23 and lasts till Oct. 28. For those same six weeks you can bump, set and spike your heart out with Fairfield’s volleyball league. Each league’s fees are $42 for members and $52 for nonmembers.

Plex Karate for Adults
Have fun and learn some good self-defense techniques with the ancient Japanese martial art form of karate. So kick and punch your way to a black belt every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. A six-week session is $126 for members and $186 for nonmembers.

Boxing for Kicks Training
Boost your self-confidence while you lose weight with this four-week class. Classes start the first week of every month, so you have some time to round up your girlfriends for this group class. You can sign up for a one-time a week occasion for $40 for members and $52 for nonmembers or really kick off your fall right with two sessions per week for $80 for members and $104 for nonmembers.

Yoga Workshop: Intro to Ashtanga
This free introduction session offers a “meet and greet” over snacks on Sept. 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Test your luck with the door prizes while you learn about Fluid Power Yoga. Healthy Directions: free Intro Session
Take a step in the healthy direction on Oct. 6 by learning some ways you can change your lifestyle to make a healthier you. From 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, Ky., you can see cooking demonstrations, set individual goals and receive a “personalized nutrition assessment” by a registered dietitian. Treat Your Mind, Body and Spirit
Give yourself a treat with a retreat Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. The Treat Your Mind, Body and Spirit retreat allows you to get away for a night and learn about holistic health options.
