Cincy Chic: Explain what you do for a living…
Marion Corbin-Mayer: I, the "Queen of Multiple Streams of Income," am a Wellness Consultant and Creative Life Coach. I help people evaluate their current lifestyle and make positive changes. I am a Creative Catalyst – I help people grow into their creative dreams through workshops and individual coaching. I am also a Reiki Master Teacher offering training and healing sessions. Oh, yes, I also paint animal portraits and landscapes…

Cincy Chic: How did you get into your line of work?
Corbin-Mayer: I have been teaching classes based on a book –The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron since 1997. It started as a hobby and has grown into a full creative wellness center. I opened Creative Catalyst Studio on September 11, 2001 after seeing the World Trade Center get hit by those planes. I knew it was time to start truly using my art supplies! My mission is to shift the creative energy in Cincinnati by making it safe for more of us to express our creativity. Coaching grew from teaching, Wellness Consulting grew from there. The classes offered at Creative Catalyst Studio are all geared to help people connect with their inherent creativity. We can all use a little fun in our lives, right?

Cincy Chic: What do you love most about it?
Corbin-Mayer: I love watching people shift from being unhappy with their life to being energized by it. The concept of moving from complaint to action, from dreams to reality, is really energizing. I love having people come play at the studio!

Cincy Chic: Where do you go/what do you do to get inspiration for your work?
Corbin-Mayer: I love to get out in nature to paint on location. That really recharges me. Also, I love to listen to inspirational and educational CDs as I drive. Zig Ziglar called it "automobile university" and I agree. I spend a lot of time in the car and it is great to use it productively.

Cincy Chic: Who's your favorite artist?
Corbin-Mayer: Cincinnati has a thriving artist community. I find inspiration from my neighbors at Essex Studios. Megan Triantafillou is a great abstract artist and Trish Weeks palette knife landscapes are lovely. It's always great to visit everyone during the Essex Studios Art Walks and see what they are up to. We open several times a year. December 7 and 8 are the next opportunities.

Cincy Chic:
What's your favorite thing to do in Cincinnati?
Corbin-Mayer: Explore the many unique neighborhoods like Northside, Clifton and Mt. Adams. Our parks are terrific, too. There are many opportunities for creative adventures right here in Cincinnati!
