Now that the holidays are here, your diet has been an odd mix of stale cookies from the break room, candy canes from Thelma’s desk and two-week-old Thanksgiving leftovers. Your stomach is definitely ready to trade in that hodge-podge for high-class.


The only Mobil Four-Star restaurant in Ohio, Jean-Robert at Pigall’s, has just the answer.


Anyone who’s lived in Cincinnati for more than 10 minutes has heard of Jean-Robert de Cavel. As executive chef of the famed (and still dearly missed) five-star Maisonette, he continued a tradition of four-star dining. In 2001, he opened Jean-Robert at Pigall’s and soon followed with JeanRo Bistro, Pho Paris (now Chalk Food + Wine), Greenup Cafè, Twist and his newest restaurant, Lavomatic. These restaurants all serve high-quality, inventive, interesting and delicious food purchased from local vendors.

The Chef’s Table at Jean-Robert at Pigall’s is the ultimate in dining experiences. It’s a 10-course menu in the middle of Pigall’s kitchen. You get a choice of three menus, and you can entertain yourself and up to five guests. Be prepared to pay $125 per person for the meal itself, and an additional $55 for the accompanying wine pairings. Let Chef be creative, and trust the sommelier’s Wine Spectator-award-winning wine list for an amazing and unforgettable experience. Other tasting menus start at $74 per person, plus wine.



Want a gift for some friends that’s JR inspired, but not quite so expensive? Try the $55 petite gift basket, which includes Jean-Phillipe Solnom’s excellent chocolates and a bottle of Jean-Robert at Pigall’s house champagne. It’s a great gift for a hostess, friend or wine-loving client.


Would you prefer to actually eat at the restaurant? Try Pigall’s for lunch. The restaurant will be featuring two seatings of lunch between Dec. 15 and Dec. 28. It’s a great way to try out a restaurant at a lower price. For this pocketbook-pleasing option, the price for two courses starts at $28.


Want to try something a little more relaxed? Head into JeanRo Bistro on a Sunday and try out their half price wine list and excellent moules frites — a favorite “bar food” in France, $14. Or head to Lavomatic and try out their Grilled Cheese of the Day and a salad. It’s always something different and inventive. (Recently they featured a salad with candied walnuts and vinaigrette and grilled Gruyere on sourdough with homemade apple butter.) And it’s the best deal in town: $12, plus tax, tip and a drink.


Get a little taste of luxury — and of France! — right here in Cincinnati. Grab your friends and have a great meal, or stay home and share some champagne with your sweetie. Either way, you’ll enjoy the offerings of the Jean-Robert Restaurant Group.
