The Hillforest Victorian House Museum

Vintage fashion lovers, listen up! The Hillforest Victorian House Museum is hosting a new exhibit entitled “A Century of Brides,” featuring bridal gowns dating from 1850-1950. The entire Italianate-inspired mansion is staged to resemble a real wedding-decked with photographs, gorgeous flowers, cake, and wedding memorabilia to compliment the displayed dresses.

Of the 20 gowns featured, some came from the museum’s very own private collection, while others are on loan from other museums and private owners.

The period furnishings, some original to the house, reflect the active lifestyle of the former residents of the home during the period following the Industrial Revolution. Thomas Gaff resided there with his family from 1855-1891, and the unique and vintage artifacts live on.

Today, its unique steamboat-style architecture and traditions of the mid to late 1800’s continue to fascinate visitors from all around. Hillforest is open for tours Tuesday-Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Groups tours are welcome by reservation and private teas are available for groups of 12 or more.

There are always fun events and activities scheduled at the Hillforest Victorian House Museum. Visit their website, www.hillforest.org to view their upcoming events and to learn more about the “A Century of Brides” exhibit!
