Cincinnati will once again play host August 9 through 17 to the annual Western & Southern Open tennis tournament. First played in 1899 on the site of present-day Xavier University, the Open has been a fixture in the Queen City for more than a century and is now the nation’s oldest professional tennis tournament played in its city of origin.
This year, Cincinnati Tennis LLC and Cincy Chic are teaming up to present the “Night on the Runway” Ladies Fashion Show portion of the Western & Southern Open. The event will take place Wednesday, August 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the tournament’s Grandstand Tent.
“In addition to the fashion show, the event will also include an artisan box dinner, boutique shopping, wine tasting and great door prizes,” explains Western & Southern Open Sponsor Coordinator Georgette Seitz. “This event is a great way to not only see fabulous fashions work the runway but to see tennis players from around the world bring their talents to Queen City.”
According to Seitz, the inspiration for the “Night on the Runway” event is to provide event attendees with an overall entertainment experience, for both tennis and non-tennis fans alike.
“That same philosophy permeates the entire tournament as we also provide shopping, music and food throughout the entire venue,” she adds. “This event is a must-see and guests will get to check out the hottest fashions for the upcoming season while also getting to add fashionable new pieces to their own wardrobe at the pop-up boutique market.”
This year, the fashion show models will be outfitted in fashions from the Hyde Park-based Alligator Purse, while hair and makeup styling will be provided by Mitchell’s Salon and Day Spa. Vendors include: Pink Peacock Boutique, It Works! by Shrink Wrap Me Skinny, Green BEAN Delivery, Ideal Image, Vein Clinics of America, Nerium with Katja Barker, and Premier Laser Spa.
The cost of a ticket to attend the fashion show is $30, but Seitz adds that in order to enter the tournament grounds, you must have either a Wednesday Day ticket or a Wednesday Night ticket.
On the day of the event, the Day Session matches begin at 11 a.m. followed by the Evening Session at 7 p.m. The fashion show will be held during the intermission of the two sessions.
