Chic Spotlight: Alaina Mueller, Dewey’s Pizza GM
Read on to learn more about a local pizzeria that’s changing the game with its first female General Manager.

Cincy Chic: What is Dewey’s Pizza?
Alaina Mueller, General Manager of Dewey’s Pizza: Dewey’s Pizza is a restaurant with a reputation built on excellent service, hand-tossed artisan pizzas and quality, fresh ingredients. Dewey’s only uses the freshest ingredients to make every order—there are no freezers in the restaurant. There’s also a strong focus on seasonal wines and local beers from Rhinegeist, Madtree, Fifty West and, of course, our DewBrew by Mt. Carmel Brewing. At Dewey’s we aren’t just striving to be the best pizza place in town, we are striving to be the best restaurant in town. We value the relationship we have with both our customers and employees. We love having regulars that come in every week, and we love the fact that our employees are achieving goals outside of work. That’s why we all love coming into work everyday, and the best place to work.
Cincy Chic: How many Dewey’s Pizza location are there in Cincinnati?
Mueller: There are a total of nine Greater Cincinnati locations—22 overall in the Cincinnati, Dayton, Cleveland, Columbus and St. Louis markets.
Cincy Chic: Can you tell us about the newest store in Anderson and what makes its opening so special?
Mueller: Dewey’s Pizza is expanding east, with the ninth Greater Cincinnati location set to open in Anderson. The 3,400 square foot store seats around 95 people. The residents in Anderson Township have been asking for a Dewey’s Pizza for well over a year now, and the community is very excited. The standalone restaurant is located in the two-acre stie alogn Beechmont Avenue and Witt Road. With booming residential areas, Dewey’s will be the anchor restaurant in the new development for Anderson families. Until this year, Dewey’s Pizza hadn’t opened a new store in Cincinnati in seven years. So it’s awesome to finally have this experience in Cincinnati again, opening two different stores this year. We bring in employees from other stores to help us train, and it really creates this unique experience for everyone involved. You get to see the store transform during construction, and you get to see the trainers and trainees transform as well. Openings are so special because of the camaraderie between the trainers and trainees.
Cincy Chic: When is the grand opening of the new restaurant and where is it located?
Mueller: The grand opening is August 31. The new store is located at 7933 Beechmont Avenue in Anderson Township, near the Anderson Towne Center.
Cincy Chic: So you’re going to be the first female General Manager of a Dewey’s Pizza restaurant! Tell us more about yourself and your background in restaurant management!
Mueller: I started working when I was 15-years-old, in an ice cream shop; so that’s ultimately why I studied hospitality business at Michigan State University. I worked at that ice cream shop in Michigan for six years and developed a great relationship with my boss there. I still keep in touch with her. She’s been a significant role model for me. Dewey’s is my first career job. I love the fact that I’m challenged everyday, and I’m surrounded by so many great people who support me. I get to see people achieve their goals not only inside of work but outside of work as well.
