Learn about a program at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County that's giving locals a chance to hear from authors and the people behind their favorite books.
Cincy Chic: What is the Cincinnati Library’s Author Series?
Kate Lawrence, Programming/Exhibits Manager at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County: The Author Series gives local residents the chance to hear from authors and hear more about their stories as writers.
Cincy Chic: What’s the inspiration behind the series?
Lawrence: The series was inspired by a desire to give readers a personal connection to the authors. Through the author series, Library customers have the opportunity to hear from authors about their inspirations and writing process, and to get to know the person behind the book. There are also opportunities to meet the authors in person and get books signed.
Cincy Chic: Which authors can readers see at the Library this year as well as in 2018?
Lawrence: On Thursday, September 28 at 7 p.m., the Library will host J.D. Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis and on September 30 at 2 p.m. we’ll host Jamie Ford, author of Love and Other Consolation Prizes. Authors for the 2018 series are still being finalized.
Cincy Chic: Where can readers go to check out the Author Series events?
Lawrence: The events are held in the Main Library’s Reading Garden Lounge at 800 Vine Street in Cincinnati.
