Cincy Chic: When did Jessica Wiggins Photography open?
Jessica Wiggins, Owner of Jessica Wiggins Photography: While attending Northern Kentucky University studying graphic design for three years, I was required to take photography classes. I began developing more of a passion for photography and I decided to change my major to photography and a year later transferred to Antonelli College. While studying, I wasn’t sure in which direction I wanted to take my career, until I began studying portraiture. I started photographing friends, family and anyone who was willing to let me as part of my portfolio development. I began crafting my own style and receiving much feedback from followers and supporters. Over the past year, I slowly began marketing my skills as a portrait photographer.
Cincy Chic: Who started the business?
Wiggins: Me! I developed a business and marketing plan as part of my studies at Antonelli. As I got closer to graduation, I started to focus on putting those plans into action and building my business.
Cincy Chic: What was the inspiration behind doing what you love?
Wiggins: When I was younger, Dan, a close family member had his own photography business. I was always around it whether it was going on location with him, or back to the lab to develop film. He passed away when I was in high school, and as I started studying photography at NKU, I remembered those times we spent and I felt this was the direction I wanted to take in my life. Many other people have inspired me along the way, including my professors. They have played a huge role in my development as a photographer, but the person who inspires me the most is my Mother. She raised me to have faith, trust, and moral values. She taught me the importance of honesty and a strong work ethic.
Cincy Chic: What photography services do you offer clients?
Wiggins: I offer on location portrait sessions for individuals, families, maternity and children. I photograph engagements as well as offer full wedding packages. I offer a private online gallery viewing, prints, and options for digital images.
Cincy Chic: What makes you different from other photography businesses?
Wiggins: I typically compose my clients in vibrant settings, using textural backgrounds at a shallow depth of field. I like to get to know my clients so that I can best portray the outcome they want to convey in their images. Communicating with the client to better understand the purpose of their session with me allows me to give them the outcome they are looking for. Whether it’s gathering ideas with each client, gathering props, or choosing a specific setting, I try to present my subject in the best possible way to avoid static, posed portraits.
Cincy Chic: Is there anything new on the horizon for Jessica Wiggins Photography?
Wiggins: I am branching out into the commercial world of photography. I’m currently working with businesses providing product shots for promotional and seasonal campaigns, and marketing through social media networks. You can expect new, updated websites and an expansion of my business through collaborations with other professionals.
