Cincy Chic: Tell us more about FlightCar!
Kevin Petrovic, Founder of FlightCar: We really started full time development on FlightCar in early July 2012 when we started at the Cincinnati-based Brandery. We launched the first location in the last week of January 2013. It was a long process that was filled with trial and error, protracted waiting times when we needed a large company like our insurance carriers to respond to something, etc. Definitely a learning process.

Cincy Chic: What inspired FlightCar?
Petrovic: We realized that at many airports, the long term parking lot and rental car lots are next to each other, and we thought it would be possible to literally merge the two, given peoples’ demonstrated willingness to share.

Cincy Chic: What exactly is FlightCar?
Petrovic: FlightCar is a peer-to-peer airport car sharing business. We serve as a combination airport parking and car rental operation. In essence, we allow people to park their vehicles with us for free while they are away on a trip. We then allow other people to rent those same cars out while the owner is gone. We provide a comprehensive $1 million insurance policy and clean the cars as well. Vehicle owners get guaranteed free parking and can even make money based on their type of car, while renters get a much better price than with a standard rental agency.

Cincy Chic: What are you doing to take your business to the next level?
Petrovic: We’re definitely making sure that each customer has a fantastic experience, every time.

Cincy Chic: How have you grown since you first started?
Petrovic: We’ve added a location (Boston) and completely reworked our entire business process and systems several times. This is a completely different company than it was even three months ago.

Cincy Chic: How are you helping clients?
Petrovic: Depending on which side of the service they are on, they get a variety of benefits and increased convenience. Plus, less resources are wasted as well.

Cincy Chic: What’s next on the horizon for the business?
Petrovic: We just launched a new site a few weeks ago. More locations and a better user experience are to come – look to see us in Los Angeles starting early September.

Cincy Chic: Where can readers go to learn more?
Petrovic: Readers can check out our site, www.flightcar.com, to learn more about FlightCar, where we are and how to use us.
