Cincy Chic: What is M is for Monster?
Mandy Richardson, Founder of M is for Monster:M is for Monster is a child subscription box for children between the ages of 2 and 5 that focuses on teaching them preschool skills such as numbers, letters, colors and shapes. We disguise it as fun so they don’t know they are learning!
Cincy Chic: What inspired it?
Richardson: My own little monsters, of course. Being a preschool teacher for 10 years, I was having serious mom guilt when my third child came along and I wasn’t engaging my older two in learning activities. I started making little packs at the beginning of each week to make it easier to grab them and get to work during the hectic days that had become my life. After awhile, I started thinking that other moms would probably benefit from having learning activities on hand that they didn’t have to prep or go shopping for.
Cincy Chic:Who’s behind the business
Richardson: I’m the found and creator of M is for Monster!
Cincy Chic: When did the business launch and where you are located?
Richardson: The business launched in August 2013 and is located in West Chester.
Cincy Chic: What about pricing? What do you get for each price level?
Richardson: Each box is the same in that it comes with 10-12 activities with all supplies included. If you need paint, it’s in there, so is glue, crayons, markets… you get the idea. If the directions call for it, you get it.
The pricing goes like this: For a one-month supply that is a one-time purchase, the box is $39.95. Shipping is included in that.
If you set up a recurring payment where you get billed every month on the same day each month, it is $36.95. You don’t have to worry about logging on every month to purchase a box. Just another thing we like to take off your plate!
Cincy Chic: Can you give us some examples of what’s included is past boxes?
Richardson: You can view some of our past boxes here< http://misformonster.com/november-2014-box/> and here
Richardson:Business has tripled since our launch last year and continues to grow every month!
Cincy Chic: What are your goals for the future?
Richardson: Our goal is to be a household name and the go-to subscription box of moms with toddlers and preschoolers.
Cincy Chic: Is there anything new on the horizon?
Richardson: We have a lot of requests for a box aimed at older children, so we hope to launch the first Monster box for children ages 5 to 6 in January 2015.
