Cincy Chic: Tell us about OZO Play Cafe!
Jodi George, Owner of OZO Play Cafe: OZO Play Cafe is an intimate, modern play space for little ones (preschool age and under) to come and play, learn and discover. Even though we’re a play space for kids, OZO was also design for the grown-ups who bring them. We offer Coffee Emporium coffee, comfy couches and free Wi-Fi. Our space is small enough that you can see your little ones from anywhere. It’s a space big enough for kids to play and small enough so adults really can have a moment to relax, hang out with friends and/or catch up on work.
Cincy Chic: What’s the inspiration behind OZO?
George: We wanted to create a space that was everything I wished I had when my daughters were little. A super clean, bright and relaxing space where it would be a little easier to chase after active little twins. OZO is named after my twin girls, Orion and zoe. They are now 17 and help out at OZO from time to time. We loved going to the zoo and the children’s museum, but it became a little challenging when they started walking. My girls always seemed to be walking in different directions, which was a little hard to manage when I was by myself. So the inspiration for our space came a lot from that experience. We also wanted to make sure that kids had the chance to be kids, use their imaginations and just play. We don’t have any electronics and have been very intentional about the toys we’ve chosen, which are multifunctional and give the kids the opportunity to make that toy their own. I absolutely adore kids, they’re magical and they see life through such a pure lens. Creating a space for them to use their imagination and watching these little ones discover and grow has been amazing.
Cincy Chic: Who’s behind the play space?
George: It’s just me and my husband Adam at OZO.
Cincy Chic: When did you open OZO?
George: We just celebrated our 3 year anniversary!
Cincy Chic: Where is OZO located?
George: We’re in Montgomery at 10004 Montgomery Road.
Cincy Chic: Is there anything new on the horizon for OZO?
George: Our visions for this next year is to give back. We open our doors to different organizations and groups who help children in need, special needs and foster children to provide them with a space to come and play and just be a kid for free. My husband and I have been very fortunate to have the opportunities we’ve had, and OZO is such a special space we feel like it’s time to share it with those who could use it most and give back a little.
